    hey guys...GREAT NEWS!!!

finally found someone around the GTA who will not only cut keys...but program them as well!!!!

    1 key cut = $30
    2 keys cut = $50
    programming the keys = $40

thats one sweet deal... considering dealer wanted more than $100 to JUST program the keys...no cutting involved...he also gave me something called "SKC" code where I can program the keys myself using vag-com in the future...

if anyone needs info on this...PM me...i'll be glad to refer you guys to him.

    Thanks,
    Myron

I've tried 3 Audi dealers and a VW dealer and none of them can cut my keys. The VW shop will cut keys, but not aftermarket keys, even though I told the guy it was a brass key. Going to see if a dealer will send them out to get them cut for me.

You need to find a local locksmith who can cut the sidewinder type key - the dealership won't touch anything unless they sold it to you, and the point of this thread is to avoid going through the dealership and to save $$ by sourcing your own parts & labor. Do some checking around and you will find a shop that can cut your blanks.

There is an indie shop close by that can program the IMMO chip, so I'm going to call them sometime this week to see if they can cut the key or if they know someone that can cut them. If they can't, I guess I'll have to try to find someone else.

2002 owners can install a Comfort Control Module from an '03 or '04, to allow this upgrade on the '02. The B7 CCM may work too, but I have not tried it. The B6 key blade won't fit the B7 fob without filing the key blade down to match the B7 key blade for length and shape. Having blank B7 blades cut is the better solution.

Does anyone know if the IMMO chips from keymam can be programmed more than once? I took my keys in to get paired with my car and they couldn't pair the one. Then, they tried to match my current two and the one that did work, and neither of the new keys could be programmed, so I'm thinking that the IMMO chips are a one and done thing, but wondering if anyone knew for sure.

They can be programmed an unlimited number of times but only to the same car (they can only be programmed to one car but you can unprogram and reprogram them as many times as you want to that car).

When they are programmed for the first time, the immo id is written onto the chip and then can only be associated with that one particular car.

Pls msg me if that wasn't really clear.

'02s can have the B7 key fobs too, all you need to do is swap the Convenience Control Module for an '03 version module.

Anybody have a different source for the transponder chips? Keymam seems to have gone dark ... ordered from them over a month ago, no responses to emails and now the website is offline. Googling ID48 MAGAMOS 48 doesn't pull up anything promising.

Taking advantage of a community of enthusiasts is stupid in my books. Regardless of that idiom.

Don't buy them then. I paid about $20 each a while back (few years ago) - I might as well keep them for the next VAG car I get!

I have no interest buying them from you, just letting forum members know they can be had for a lot less.

Thanks for the offer, but I think I'll pass and just use the one out of my current key and my valet key.

Anybody else know of a place to obtain new ones at a reasonable price?

My assumption is that the B6 CCM sub frequency is different than the B7 4F0837220N remote frequency. But, I can't back that up.

If you find out why, let us know.

Old thread, but I found someone local to me that will cut keys. I still had the original blanks that came with the B7 remotes, so I decided to try and get them cut. The brass blanks I had cut previously worked, but were "tight" to get them to turn over the ignition. Put the original blanks on the remotes, the hardware store cut them, no questions asked. Tested them out and both work great. Also found that the blanks that came with the FOBs are brass as well, though it looks like a different brass composition as it is less gold colored and more silver. Anyway, if anyone is in the South East PA region, Parkway Hardware just south of West Chester will cut the keys for you.

Hi, I just did this and wanted to share that I found an online locksmith that will cut from a picture of your key and mail the blade to you. He carries b7 blades that don't have to be modified. www.sidewinderkey.com He can't help with immobilizer though.

if one were to upgrade the Comfort Control Module to any year newer than 2002, which key model numbers would then work?

    I have a 2002 with key 8Z0 837 231 B and my 2 replacement A3 (it seems, listing on ebay said B7) Keys are 8P0 837 220 E, all are 315Mhz
