    ecs headlight wiring harness

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
i just bought a set of brand new depo headlights from a member on here and he included the ecs wiring harness for the pre-facelift to facelift plug. My problem is, the harness is not put together at all so i am left with pieces and no instructions.im not even sure if it came this way, or if the previous owner took them apart. Does anyone have the instructions on how these go together? i can post up some pics if needed but any help is appreciated.

Also, if anyone has a diy for the install of this harness that the pics are not expired on that would be great. im sure i can do it without the pics but id still like some conformation to be sure.

Do you just need to know which color gets spliced to the other? I am pretty sure I have that in my build thread. If not, I could take a look for you tonight.

yes that would be great, ill take a look through your build thread now to see. but also, for the new plug, i have the two plugs, the two rubber caps, and 8 loose wires that i need to connect to the plug itself but not sure how they go together

rob i looked through your whole build thread and couldnt find any pics of that harness. If you could snap a pic of the back of the plugs where the wired connect to the plug, as well as, which color wires splice together that would be greatly appreciated.

The purple clip keeps the individual pins clipped into the connector.

just noticed the adjuster on the inside of the healight is busted on my "brand new" depos... so much for saving money and busying these supposedly brand new headlights in the classifides. it was obviously over tightened and the peg twisted and snapped, hmm think maybe thats why he was selling them?

So should I not even use the wired from Ecs? And just cut off my wires at the plug and attach them on my own? Or can any wire from Ecs be used to attach any of the existing wires?

Yeah, your headlights do not care what color wire you use. You could use all pink wires and they still wouldn't care. As long as the right signals go to the right pins, everybody is happy. Matching the colors would be nice later on if somebody has to decifer what you've done, but not a big deal.

Not sure if this will help at all but this is what the final product should look like once you put the wires in the correct pins in the clip.

I just need to know which pins on the Passenger side are +12 and GND for the low beam. I picked up a Depo Euro housing and all of the wires inside are the same color.

**edited to correct my own derp. I meant pass side.

I need the pic to know which order he has the pins listed. I'm not sure if the connector has a Pin 1 label molded into it or if he provided his own numbering.

I have verified that is the accurate, OEM numbering. So you can follow the stamped pin numbers on the connector plug itself. Usually stamped on the harness side plug like this:

(Note: example of the style of plug for illustration purposes, not the actual B5 headlamp connector)
