I'm starting to wonder if the problem is with the central locking system or something else electrical after the jump start? Key remote was working absolutely fine with no problems, then my battery died from leaving the headlights on overnight, and the next day after a jump start the key remote no longer works even after all the different ways I tried to re-sync it.

This may sound stupid but are you sure the battery in your key remote is brand new/fully charged? And have you checked the voltage on your car's new battery too?

had to reprogram my keys after disconnecting the battery. i know that right be4 i disconnected the battery the fobs were working just fine, so i didn't bother to change the batteries inside of the key remotes. however, after several tries, i could not reprogram the keys. i had to resort to replacing the batteries in the keys as my last option. and sure enough the keys were reprogrammed right away. sometimes when the batteries in the keys are at a low level, i guess they can not receive the signal, therefore could not be reprogrammed.

I'm so glad this thread was here. After changing my battery this morning, I had a moment of sheer panic when my fob wouldn't unlock the door. I purchased the car used and it only came with one key; I was super nervous. I'm ordering another key (not at the premium from Audi) and I've read up on the how-to to program that as well. This community is so awesome. Thank you so much, everyone, for contributing such awesome info. AZ FTW!

Worked perfectly tonight after reconnecting my battery. Thank you, long gone joeycuccaro from NJ.

If I try the above programming methods with a key FOB that has never been matched to car before, does it affect my one good key FOB in any way? I do not have a valet key. I have the switchblade style 3 button + panic and I had a locksmith cut a key blank for the ebay purchased FOB. Car is a 2008 A6 3.2

I have tried all of the ways on this thread and still have no luck :/ I have new batteries in fob I replaced last month when I bought the car (didn't work when I bought it) locksmith says there is a signal but nothings happening. Wonder if the remote buttons are broke Idk what else it could be.

None of these methods worked for me - but VCDS did

I disconnected the car battery on my UK-spec Audi A4 (B7/8E) when I was installing the tow hitch electrics. When I reconnected the battery, I got a Steering Angle warning (indicating it needed recalibrating - fixed by driving in a straight line for a few seconds), and both keys stopped working (would start the car, but remotes didn't work).

I tried every method listed on this thread - nothing worked.

I have Ross-Tech's VCDS, and there is a Youtube video (8E Remote Learning) that showed how to program the Central Convenience Module to recognise the remotes again. I cleared out the existing entries, and then got both keys recognised. Simple!

06 A3. I just purchased a car on Tuesday and the fob seemed to work properly. Nothing has changed except for the fob does not work. I replaced the battery and tried every single reprogramming idea that has been posted here and on other forums and still cannot get my remote to work. The light flashes during operation but nothing works

Audi A6 2.0 TDI (2013)- Remote Key inconsistent (intermittently not working)

    Hi All,

I just owned an used Audi A6 2.0 TDI (2013) one & i did notice the following issue with the remote key!

Every morning from 10th January, 2016 on wards i am not able to UNLOCK the car with the Remote Key . I have to manually unlock the car with key!. Then, i can still start the car with the "Start/Stop" button & drive. Once i drive to my work. Once, i reach work i am able to lock the car with the remote. Also, when i am start from my work (in evening) i can unlock again with the remote as well as lock the car when i reach home. However in the next morning, the same problem repeats!!

Can you please share your experience/expertise on how to resolve this issue?

Appreciate a lot for your support & earliest response.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Pradeep

I put it in accessory position then put the front windows down and hold for 5 seconds up for 5 seconds, move to back windows, same.. fixes it every time for me.

It re learns it after a few starts automatically. I just replaced my battery the other day and the remote buttons were working again before the end of the day.

Interestingly, this worked on one of my two remotes but not the other. I checked the voltage on the one that didn't work, it was at 3.05 (it's a 3 volt battery) so I figured it was ok. But after an hour or so of trying any and all of the 'solutions' listed in this thread, with no luck, I put a new battery in the remote. Did the "put the key in the ignition, turn the key to the "accessory position" , and hold the unlock button for at least 5 seconds. " and it worked first try. So there might be some truth to the remote needing a good strong battery in order to be programmed. Or perhaps its German voodoo and i just got lucky (finally) :)

I put the key in accessories and do the windows down, hold for 5 seconds, up then hold for 5 seconds. Test lock and unlock.

Hey, wanted to say thanks. Thought you might be a joker at first, i.e. in the lines of jump up 3 times, turn around, close your eyes and snap your fingers 25 times and it will work...I promise. All good with spare key. Tanks!

    Car is already unlocked...
    open door
    get in
insert key (that has new battery)
turn key to accessory position (don't start the car)
now push in unlock button on the key remote
    hold button in 10 seconds
    let button out
press button in and out 10 times
turn key off and remove it
    get out
    enjoy your working remote

I actually replaced both key batteries at the same time and this same procedure worked for both.

In case someone else finds this; this worked when my 2008 Fob stopped working

    https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...i-flip-key-fob

Steps to reprogram keys to a car they are already linked to:
    1. Press and hold the unlock key on a remote
    2. Insert key in ignition and turn to on (while still holding unlock)
    3. Hold unlock while in the on position for 2 seconds
    4. Turn key to off, remove from ignition and release button.

I’ve got the solution to everyone who has tried these steps and it didn’t work because I was the guy who tried each of these without any progress. Ready?

When you replaced your key fob battery you put the battery in upside down.

The label goes face down and the shiny non writing part sticks up to face the contacts. FML right? I just spent an hour doing all these crazy steps and the battery was upside down the whole time. Lol. It’s okay. It happened to me too.

I held the unlock button on my door and worked , I never even touched the key but to turn it on, put a boost gauge in and disconnected the battery , went to the store to buy some dinner damn doors wouldnt lock!

Thank god it was an easy fix , so if the key fob unlock isn’t doing the trick try the door unlock , maybe have to do the key fob unlock when you put a new battery in that ??? I dunno just asking ..

Just wanna also say that this forum is great no one getting ragged for some basic shit... I’ve Been on some cutthroat forums before and this is a nice change of pace
