After all this, I wanted to capture what we know of current coil over kits available:
    KW V1/2/3
    H&R Street or Performance
    Vogtland
    STaSIS Ohlins
    Bilstein PSS10

About all I think everyone here agrees on is that coilover kits are preferred to just springs, or even springs and shocks upgrades.

But has there been one collective thought on preferred coilover kit over the others?

Re: Show and Tell Your Suspension Setup!

Kinda related to this, I was interested at one point in getting KW V1s because like many others, I felt that KW did their homework over competing brands and released coilover kits that were specific to each A4 configuration. Coilover kits from other brands have a much broader application (ie, the same kit works w/ both Quattros vs CVTs or 6MTs vs Tiptronics).

But if the source in this thread is correct, the parts in the KW kits may all be the same even tho they have different part #s for different A4 applications, which, if true, would at least partly negate my reason for preferring KW coilovers in the 1st place.

I can tell you that my KW's set to soft feel just like stock.
Thanks, leaning towards KW V1s myself, no need for other adjustments, im just looking for a tighter suspension and lower ride, but feels like OEM. I like the apparent higher quality of the KWs and for $100-200 more than H&Rs, I think its probably worth it.

Actually, correction, an online quote from shox.com for KW V1s came in at $1149. At that price, do believe I will have to pick them up :)

Re: Show and Tell Your Suspension Setup!

At least on my car, the sport pkg suspension sat lower in the rear than in the front. It may be that the H&R Sports are giving you the claimed drop amount instead of accounting for that difference, and that the ride height discrepancy between the front and rear is just more noticeable now that you're lower. Just speculating

Yes, but totally normal. The car sits perfectly level on my avant with the H&R Avant Sports, but the front fenders are also a little higher than the rear so I think it is just how it is and more noticeable when you close in the wheel gap......

I would say no more than 5mm spacers, unless you want the poke.

Eh, probably not that great on base model springs. I would look into at least the most basic spring, or even source some used OEM Sport/S-Line springs from another user on here.

Depends on what you are looking for.

The H&R OE Sports have been reviewed as a great overall spring for a mild drop, improved handling, but without sacrificing too much ride comfort.

Thanks for all the kind comments. I'm thinking about getting 10mm spacers for the rears and 5mm spacers for the front just to push the wheels out a little more for that flush look. As for the spoiler aznpxdd is right, this is the replica ABT spoiler from ebay (sorry to hear about your ebay spoiler experience). I had a thread about this spoiler before and it has been determined that its slight fatter and thicker. The real ABT one is more slim.

btw if anybody is looking for OEM sport springs I have a set that I'm willing to sell. Barely used as my car was lowered almost immediately upon purchase.

    KW V1 vs V2

I've narrowed down my decision to either KW V1 or V2 and I'm looking for a little advice. Is the "factory tuned" rebound setting on the V1 at the middle setting of the V2, or is it tuned more in one direction (stiff) or the other (comfortable)? Anyone with V1's wish they would have bought the more adjustable versions due to the V1's being too stiff or not stiff enough?

I realize that the V2's aren't a huge difference in cost vs V1's but if I won't need to adjust them.... it's money wasted.

(and the cost of the V1's would be easier to sneak under the wife's radar ......jk )
My other home is an AIRSTREAM.

Back up top... I am trying to make up my mind on Avant H&R sport springs or H&R coils? I have an S-line, so right now the fender to the top of the tire is about an inch and a half f/r. It might be worth it to save some cash and just get springs but I don't want the drop to be different front to rear? And I don't want to spend more cash replacing shocks/struts? So I might as well get coils.. Any suggestions

Here is the thing, the drop with springs IS even, it just looks uneven because of the fender cutouts with the fronts being a bit higher. The drop would be uneven with coilovers, but the fender gaps would be even by lowering the front just a tad more than the rear.

I can say for the money I am happy with the H&R avant springs. If I had an extra $1K to add to this one mod alone I would have gone with coilovers. Either way you are gaining and losing something, so it is kind of a wash IMO.
