How much does it cost to replace a clutch?

So it seems as though my clutch is on the way out. I don't have the time to try and do it myself and I'm certainly lacking a good amount of the required tools. I figure buying the kit online will save me some cash if I take it to a shop to install.

Would a Sachs kit from ebay work?

If so what else would I need to provide, and how much do shops generally run to do such a job? I'm in southwest CT so if any locals have any recomendations, I'd appreciate it.

I'm not sure if that clutch will work or not, but that seems like a pretty good price. I got quotes to install a clutch and they were all around $400 as well. But all of the shops wouldn't guarantee their work or the clutch if I didn't buy it from them... I ended up at the dealership and literally just bent over. Cost? 2G's I don't know what I was thinking

I bought a SouthBend 5 years ago and had the dealership install it, an electric fan kit, and timing belt for 550 labor.

in all for my clutch, new dual mass flywheel and labor I paid about $1,400 for mine. I could of made it less by ordering my own clutch but I needed the car back ASAP and didnt have time to wait on one to come in.

Call up Jake at Dowerks since he is in RI. The sachs clutch is pretty much just a stock clutch. You will also need to get your flywheel resurfaced or replaced because you dont want to throw a new clutch on a old flywheel.

That sucks, I could have helped you do the install for about the same as the shops that would not do it for you.
