Remote wire from Bose Amp - B7 RS4

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi Guys:

I am looking for a good remote turn-on wire in the trunk of my B7 RS4. Off of the bose amp, who can tell me what color the remote wire is? Or maybe provide me with a wire color/function chart rather than the pin-out charts I have seen here. I can't tell what wire goes with what pin because the "hook connector" blocks them off.

I tapped into a solid white wire and it appears to be on all the time. So back to the drawing board.

BTW, there are two solid white wires back there. The one I tapped into is slightly larger AWG than the other. The other was also twisted around another wire so i assumed it was a speaker connection.

    Thanks!

Looks like you would need pin 25.

Re: Remote wire from Bose Amp - B7 RS4

I appreciate the help and have seen that image before. My challenge is twofold.

First, my harness does not match that -- I have more pins than 25. Second, I can't identify which wire goes to whatever pin (because of the "locking adapter" that secures the harness to the amp).

That is why I am looking for the wire color that will provide a remote signal.

The other thing is that my car, even when off for days, will still allow me to power up the radio and run it. I was under the impression you could only do this for XX minutes after shutdown, but I guess not. This complicates finding a true remote wire even more.

At this point I would say just to test test test. Grab your multimeter and check any lone wires (usually speaker wires would be twisted together) and go from there.

Thanks -- at this point I would need to cut a bunch of wires to test, which is not something I want to do. Surprising to me that nobody knows the answer but oh well.

i would test the white wire....on the amp harness. first test it when radio is off. then turn on radio(without car on). it should give you 12-13 volts... give that a shot.

RS4 with Bose has a 32 pin connector at the amp. This is the correct pinout. Pin 6 is what you want.

Awesome -- now, can you tell me what color that wire is? I tapped into a white wire (not twisted with anything else) but there is still power even when the car is off.

I'll look. I've got the connector wrapped in a foam sleeve and tie wrapped out of the way. So it may not be to easy to get at without pulling the fender liner.

Buy a multimeter and start testing. Nuff said

Haha, yeah, it was me pestering Jon to ID that wire and snap a picture for me. Sadly, that is the wire I am tapped into and I still get a constant 12V!

London RS4 -- as long as you tapped the remote at your bose amp (i read your description when you posted it a couple days ago and it seemed like your remote lead comes from the head unit), please take a look and let me know!

Yes my remote on comes from the new Kenwood HU. I completely bypassed all the stock wiring. I've sealed up my trunk liner already so I couldn't get back in to check the wire color on Pin 6.

Alright cool. If you are using your HU for the remote my question/issue is not relevant anyway.

Shocking to me that until Jon took that pic for me nobody could tell me the color of the remote turn on.

Maybe my car is just a freak of nature. Regardless, no remote turn on for me....

I have the eBahn Bentley manual. Oddly enough it does not give a color for the connections. It does for other parts of the audio system, including speaker wires in the doors etc. But not directly at the plug. It may be elsewhere, but I haven't found it.

Which speakers did you tap into for the signal? Rears?

    Thanks!
