How to spot Replica BBS CH?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Anyone know if its possible to spot replica BBS CH from real ones if they are mounted on a car? If its not possible to tell from the face then would what should I look for on the mounting face? Any specific marks apart from the overall finish and color from the rims.

Pretty surprised to find out the CH are not very light hitting over 24lbs each rim on the 18x8 size.

    BBS CH Cast 18x8 24.0
    BBS CH Cast 18x8.5 24.5
    BBS CH Cast 19x8.5 26.0
    BBS CH Cast 19x10 28.0

    Many thanks

If it doesn't have 'Motorsport' etched into the wheel around the center, it's probably fake. That's the only thing I can think of. You can also see the 'BBS' logo along the hub in between the spokes and the offset somewhere as well. I'd guess knockoffs don't have any of those things probably.

As for weight, 24lbs isn't that bad. It's a very strong wheel which makes up for it. I've hit some massive potholes with mine and they're as true as they were from the factory.

I've hit potholes with my 17" ASA winter wheels (finally retired) which have caused slight bends. I would almost consider running 19" CH wheels because I'm confident they're still strong even with a 35 series tire. 18x8.5 is the sweet spot imo for CHs though, get the right tire and they look so good!

Thanks but I've seen some reps and they have both the Motorsports and BBS on the rim. Those are exactly the size I am looking at, what tire sizes are you running? 235/40R18?

Let me keep on searching and see what I can find.

    Tks

Yup, 235/40/18, fits like a glove. I'm running Bridgestone Potenza RE750s. They weren't my tire of choice but they were brand new and came on the CHs. I've actually been VERY happy with them and they have a very cool sidewall design that simulates a little bit of 'stretch' look. Grip on dry is great and grip in wet is unbelievable thus far. I was originally looking at Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 tires but I think I may go with these Bridgestones again after these are shot.

Re: How to spot Replica BBS CH?

BBS CH only comes 18x8.5 ET35 in the B5/B6/B7 fitment.
Most replica's I've seen are coming 18x8 instead for this fitment.
Replica wheels don't use hubrings either. Genuine BBS use hubrings.

That's right! Nice metal ones too (Billet Aluminum it feels like).

The cheapos come with plastic hub-centric rings usually so that might help you.

Oh yea, real BBS wheels have BBS bolts too, I have 4 sets of bolts that have 'BBS' etched into them. They are a darker silver color and have a brushed 'matte' finish.

    Hi Mike

Do you know what the center spigot size is on the original BBS?

    Thanks
