    Syncing Phone Address Book

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey guys,
Just wanted to introduce myself as this is my first post on the forum. Names Justin and I just picked up my Black/Black A4 2.0 S-line convertible.

Had a quick question for those who have navigation in their car. I know there is a phone book option with the navigation. Does anyone know if there's a way to sync your phonebook up with the navigation so that it just imports all your contacts into your navi phone book? If anyone knows the answer please let me know. Thanks.

    Re: Syncing Phone Address Book

you have to pair your BT enabled phone with the car's system. After it's done, the phone will automatically connect every time you get in your car and your contacts will be visible on your display.

There is a way of transferring contacts from your BT phone to the car memory so you can assign voice commands to them I think..

Not sure how but a search will no doubt tell you

    Re: Syncing Phone Address Book

Depends on the capabilities of your bluetooth enabled phone. I had a standard samsung flip phone that only connected for phone calls, but my blackberry automatically connects and syncs the address book right to the little info screen in the cluster. You can scroll through your contacts and make calls with your steering wheel controls as well.

If you open your armrest, you should see a connection for a phone dock. You need to purchase a phone cradle that corresponds with the model of phone that you have. Once connected, this should allow you to voice dial through the car and pull up your address book on the actual RNS-e screen. It apparently actually also charges the phone. I just let my blackberry sync automatically, so I haven't messed with the cradle at all and have no idea where you'd buy one. This is just what I've been told.

    Re: Syncing Phone Address Book

It depends on the phone being sync'd. Not all phones have the same capability. I have a Palm TREO and the only numbers that get sync'd are the ones I have programmed into my Quickdial keys. I cannot get my other numbers to sync with the RNS-e phonebook. I'm only BT connected; not through cradle.

    Re: Syncing Phone Address Book

Best place to look first is the manual for your car. If you have the factory bluetooth, that is. I was able to get mine up and going no prob after giving this a quick read. For my car w/ factory bt, there was a limit on the number of numbers that the phone and car would sync up -- so if you have a large phone book (like I do - >500 #'s), then you will run into some problems. My car is 2006 MY, so don't know if other model years have same limitations... hope this helps!

You can set up voice dialing on your car manually with only bluetooth. You hit the speak button on the steering wheel and you speak the name and give the number. I forget the exact phrsae you have to use to set it up, but I'm pretty sure you can say..help. That should give you the options on how to add a contact to your car so you can use voice dialing.

    Re: Syncing Phone Address Book

i turned the bluetooth ON on my Blackberry curve and tried to synch..no worky. I'll check with the Verizon store I guess.

now, I get the auto-sync part, but if I don't want this to happen (ie: if I don't want everyone in the car hearing my conversation), do I just tuen the bluetooth feature off on my phone or the car?

on your phone. While you're talking on the phone, if you pick it up, there should be an option to disconnect bluetooth or talk on the headset while still connected to bt.

You can't turn the car's BT off, it turns on with the car and off with the car. It will be better for you to just not answer the call with everyone in the car rather than turn the BT on and off everytime you get it the car.

With the car on, or just to power (first turn of the key) the radio will turn on. Turn on your BT on your phone and search for devices, If you have BT in your car, your phone will find a device call audi UHV or something like that. Click connect, enter I believe 1234 as the code and it should connect. Give it a half a minute and it should be able to have your phone book. I have a Blackberry and it works great. I tried with a Samsung slider phone and failed, which made me get the BlackBerry.

    Good Luck
    The usual things!!
