    Replacing CCM:

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hi all just a quick one, I currently have a 8E0 959 433 AL and need a replacement. I may get one from a breakers yar if possible, which CCMs are compatible? I think 8E0 959 433 AJ is the current replacement from Audi? Any other ones compatible? I have vagcom so could recode if needed.

    Thanks

    Re: Replacing CCM:

I ask as I'm finding hard to find an exact match, are there any other letters such as AB AC AD etc at the end that will work? Or does it need to be an exact match?

Use any suffix equal to or later than the original.

    Re: Replacing CCM:

So you are suggesting items ending in AM AN AO AP AQ etc? but the replacement was AJ from Audi?

Can you explain what you mean exactly, there are loads of ones for sale but with letters such as

    8E0 959 433 BL
    8E0 959 433 BB
    8E0 959 433 T
    8E0 959 433 AG
    8E0 959 433 BA
    8E0 959 433 BT
    8E0 959 433 L
    8E0 959 433 CH
    8E0 959 433 BJ
    8E0 959 433 BD

thats a quick list from ebay, but I have no idea what the letters after the initial 8E0 959 433 mean? Are they a reference to the radio frequency or something? If so won't I need the exact model as mine?

    Re: Replacing CCM:

I see your dilemma. The suffix letters refer to the version of the module, and apply to different A4 models that they are used on. You are assured of the AJ fitting and being the easiest to configure as it's already compatible with your remotes etc. Depending on what A4 models other suffix versions fit, later versions will work too, up to the B7 versions, and often have extended configurations available via coding and adaptations. The latest versions like the B series, may need different key remotes, again depending on if they are B6 or B7 modules. All B6 version modules will work without new key remotes. So, any module originally fitted to a B6 up to M.Y. 2005.5 will work without additional changes. Check with the dealer for what suffixes are original up to 2005.5. Regardless of the version used, the remotes will need to be adapted to the replacement module, using VCDS/VAG-COM or the dealer. The immobilizer function is not a CCM function so that won't be effected as long as the same remotes are used.

    Re: Replacing CCM:

Ok the next question is, if I get said module, fit it. You mention the remotes won't work. If I connect up to the car using Ross tech vag-com and connect to the CCM are there instruction on how to code the module (I can probably find out) my main concern is getting the remote fobs to work, how is that done through vag com? Any info?

    Re: Replacing CCM:

Easiest way to code it is to read your current coding with the VAG-COM, either screen cap, store it or write it down.

Install the new CCM then code it identically, once this is completed and you verify that all functions work the same (ruling out that the previous CCM was bad), then you can play around with the codings if you wish.

    Re: Replacing CCM:

Sounding good, but I need to be sure that if I buy a different part number it will still work. Out of the ones listed above there are a few from 2002 but do they need to be from the same type of A4 i.e. mine is a 1.9tdi SE UK or does that not matter?

    Re: Replacing CCM:

    PR-5D1+7AA

    5D1 = Carrier frequency 433.92 MHz-434.42 Mhz
7AA = Electronic vehicle immobilization device

So if I can confirm that AJ is the replacement unit from Audi, I'm guessing that the ones with PR-5D1+7AA should work ok?

So that would leave me with

    AL - like mine
    AJ - the current replacement
    AK
    AH
    BC
    BD

    PR-5D1+7AL
    5D1 = Carrier frequency 433.92 MHz-434.42 Mhz
7AL = Anti-theft alarm system, passenger compartment control, backup horn and towing protection

Mine definatley has alarm, but not sure about the other bits

    Re: Replacing CCM:

diagnosticator that suggests that your 03 is a different frequency to mine then, so I doubt they are compatible. It looks like the AJ model covers both the ones with motion sensors and without. Mine definatley has motion sensors and towaway options as I can turn them off in the drivers door. There is also passenger control for window. I'm thinking that the 8E0 959 433 BD is going to be the best one to go for after the AJ, as they seem to be the current ones, and cover my options in car.

I'm not certain but I think that Euro Market uses different remote frequencies compared to NA. Follow ups are welcome anytime.

    Re: Replacing CCM:

Yeah I'm guessing so, well I will double check that the AJ is the replacement, and go for one one the same frequency. Funny that the Aj covers with alarm only and all the other functions below. I guess they should all pretty much have the same functionality, but it will need to be customised to the car using vagcom?

    Re: Replacing CCM:

    Here is the VIN decoded:

So your A4 is an '02, with serial 056818, or by the syntax of the parts list, 8E-2-056818. (I used "WAUVC6" to fill out the VIN, your A4 may not have the same equipment, but the illustration for example purposes applies.)

    >>8E-3-100000 means up to M.Y. 2003 VIN serial number 100000, 8E-3-100001>> means from M.Y. 2003 VIN serial number 100001 and up.

    Re: Replacing CCM:

Ok bit of an update folks, I ended up buying an AG version

I have fitted it tonight, easy to change hooked up into VagCom which sees the following differences

    Original
    Address 46: Central Conv.
    Controller: 8E0 959 433 AL
    Component: Komfortgerát T9F 0514
    Coding: 06859

    New
    Address 46: Central Conv.
    Controller: 8E0 959 433 AG
    Component: Komfortgerát T87 0315
    Coding: 06720

I tried to recode the module which went through the process but did not chage the coding after a number of tries, everything turned off and on again etc. Also on the new module I could not access the adaptation channels for the remotes etc.

The interior lights and widows worked but no access via remote no alarm, and the tow away etc didn't work. It looks to me like there are different components looking at the VagCom output above.

I have given up for now and put the other module back in.

Any advice folks? Looks like I might need the exact match of my old unit AL or the new AJ!! Which is over £200 over here!!

Thanks for your help so far though!

    Re: Replacing CCM:

Well, the replacement CCM is an earlier version compared to the original fitted. Regardiing adaptation channels, none of the "Reads" on channels 01,02,03 etc returned any existing values? Did you try resetting all the adaptation values to default by storing 0 in channel 00? What version VAG-COM are you using? The latest versions confirm when a new coding value is accepted by the controller or not. What exactly happend when you clicked on "Do it" after entering the new coding? Did you include the leading zero? IE 06859. The leading zero is a required part of the coding value. Some controllers require that a "login" code is entered correctly before any new codings will be possible. I don't know if the Bentley has the login value or not.

    Re: Replacing CCM:

I didn't check 1-10, but couldn't access 21 61 and 62 as per ross tech, the vagcom version is 504-1 I entered the leading 0 as you mention, hit do it and then it looked as if it took around 30secs then re-connected back to the module with the same softcode, do I need to login or something, is the coding dependant on the controller or should it just accept the code regardless? I can try a different version of VagCom perhaps, i have seen this http://briskoda.net/technical-guides...remote/145569/ which mentions logging in should I give it a go? Should I be prompted if a login is required?

    Re: Replacing CCM:

After clicking on "Do It", instead of waiting for 30 seconds, after 2 or 3 seconds, click on "Done" then close out of the controller and turn off the key for 10 seconds. Next reopen the controller and check the coding it shows when communication is established.

    Re: Replacing CCM:

Well I tried a different version of VagCom which enabled me to do adaptation for the remotes, which worked fine. I can also recode the CCM with other options but not the UK alarm, and Immobiliser options, which are included in my original soft code. Looks like the CCM I have bought doesn't have the kit to support those options, I can change it to right have drive ok, and enable disable other options but 1 for alarm etc don't work. I have managed to track down an AJ revision, but need to sell this AG one now! I guess thats what the PR-5D1+7AL option is for, and they turn it off on ones that dont need the options...... Think I will order the AJ on monday to try and fit it this week.

    Re: Replacing CCM:

    Ok i managed to source an AH ccm which is now working with the alarm and already came with the softcode I require. However, the module can't talk to the rear doors at all;

vag com 01333 and 01334 no communications at all, and comes back as soon as I clear the codes, the boot, fuel cap and front doors lock fine, but the rears won't. The alarm sets after 30 seconds and internal monitoring sets it off ok. However the rear doors won't lock at all. Also the door LED (the red one) doesn't come on, but I'm guessing that is because all the doors are not registering a shut due to the rear door comms.

I have put my old unit back in and the rear door instantly work ok, does this sound like a bad second hand unit? This is so frustrating, really didn't want to fork out over £200 on a new AJ unit, especially when I'm not 100% sure that this will cure the battery drain I have been getting. any advice folks?

The adaptation channels for the module specifiy if the rear doors are manual or electrical windows and locks. Check the adaptation channnel values stored in the replacement controller.
