I can't stand the CEL light either. So it's either piggies or just keep the cats. Oh and after I'm coasting for a minute or so (not stepping on the gas at all) and then get on the gas even a bit ... POOF .... a huge puff of exhaust blinds the car behind me. I'm lucky I didn't get pulled over yet. Does this happen to anyone else?

I've read through the posts and some people have put up suggestions and verified setups that get rid of drone.

BUT... any suggestions? How the hell should I get rid of the the drone???

    DRONE

I had the same problem with my 2.8 audi i had removed the resonator and the muffler and replaced it all with 2.5" piping from the dual cats back to a Magnaflow 3" in dual 2.5" out.

It was insanely loud i could not keep a conversation or answer a phone call with out having to put the car in Neutral. hehehe 2,000-3-,000 RPMs is where it was the loudest so pretty much at cruising speed.

Finally after two weeks of having a SEXY AUDI that sounded like a shit box car with a broken muffler i when back to the muffler garage and had them weld the stock resonator back on and still kept the magnaflow muffler and it sounds AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING... it has a sexy PRRRRR every time i get on the gas and its silent when im cruising, EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED.

    TOTAL PRICE= $280

Eh I have no drone, just rasp. I need some mufflers with baffles, not just glass packs(Remus). I think thats the problem I'm having. Theres nothing to break up the resonance in the pipe, no secondary cats, no res, just the remus glass packs.

Rasp is anoying it would only happen when i would hammer the gas. That usually (not always) happens when you put a bigger diameter muffler inlet than your pipe size, for example the stock audi 2.25" in to a 3" muffler inlet.

This is how my audi sounded with 2.5" catback to the magnaflow 3"

so am i the only one running 3" cat back? i could have sworn i seen a few people running 3" in here, but everyone is doing 2.5. i went to a shop today to try to fix my exhaust and they couldnt do shit... i think i am going to have to order some electronic exhaust dumps and change my system to 2.5 from the cat back. they also couldnt raise the mufflers any higher as there was some metal bumper support that was in the way on the passenger side... fml

I've been thinking about deleting the muffler on my a6 2.8 v6. Do you know if it would sound similar to the 2.7 with the muffler delete? And do i have to put a straight pipe or can i just leave it off. I've heard the fumes can get into the cab and be pretty dangerous. advice? thanks

I had my mufflers cut off for a short time, sounded great. If your planning to leave it like that, you need to run pipes to the back of the car.

I plan on doing my muffler delete within the next couple of weeks, just ordered some tips. After seeing the video of ccomengee86 muffler delete that is exactly the sound I'm looking for and if I don't like it I can always put the muffler back on.

It's going to sound like shit. What you have to do is KEEP the resonator and replace the muffler with a Magnaflow, Borla or Remus.

just the resonators removed but keep the stock mufflers? it will sound practically stock. I did this on my allroad and it made the exhaust a *little* bit louder but wasnt worth while imo. I ended up putting magnaflows in as a replacement for the stock mufflers a few months later.

Can. A resonated tip will make it slightly quieter and deeper. But other than that no.

And a teaser of my NEW system(5th one lol).

hmm, alright. The only reason I asked was because I saw a set of "sound enhancing" rs6 tips the other day. so I am wondering if the reason my exhaust sounds the way it does because the tips are so big

Well at least mine didn't sound very good as you can see and hear from the video i posted. That was 2.5" catback to a magnaflow. maybe the bigger pipe size made it extra loud.

Would it be possible to install center in / center out muffler? Is the enough space for the bend?

I dont think that one will fit. Check out 12255. They just barely fit on my 2000 A6 4.2. The 14" body ones would be easier. I'd recommend the offset inlet if possible.

^^^ Unfortunately no VJ, the rear end is tight enough for space as it is, I had all the magnaflow parts ready to go and nobody wanted to touch the setup, which is why I went with the APR setup.

sidenote: I currently have the APR catback setup and gutted DP's, do you guys think it would be worth swapping the center resonator for straight pipes right in to the rear APR mufflers?

    Greg,
Brett and Nick are running these mufflers: 12256, the difference is the inlet is off center and the one I have is center in and out.

Pics of Brett and Nick's mufflers:

I sold all of the mag parts after having no luck. Thats what I'm trying to tell you, center center will not work because of the rear swing arm causing space issues. Center to off center will work.
