I know some VR guys doing the same on 12V's but I would at the very least throw in some rods into that bitch.

He has the 24V, I have the 12V. Are there any mods required for the oil pan used for the 12V? Also, does anyone know if the VR6 was originally designed to be used as a diesel, thus the strong bottom end?

For this oil pan to be used on a 12V? No none
12V and 24V (2.8 & 3.2) have the same pan rail.So yes this oil pan will work for you.

    Re: *** OFFICIAL VR6 -12V & 24V FAQ and Info sharing ***

Due to the lack of info on B6 chassis swaps, i decided to email Issam with some questions. I figured some of my questions may be eventually asked and that the information in our emails may be useful to some of the viewers of this thread.

    [REMOVED DUE TO ISSAM'S REQUEST]

I hope Issam doesnt mind me posting our email conversation but there are always people that are too scared to ask a certain question and one of them may have been mine.

As for me opting for the 3.6, there isnt really a replacement for displacement. The extra .4 liters might come in handy when you decide to stuff in a GT35R/Big turbo. What i wanna know is, "is it worth the trouble for the extra .4 displacement?"

I actually do so in future please dont do that

Go with the 2.8 or 3.2 motor.

    Re: *** OFFICIAL VR6 -12V & 24V FAQ and Info sharing ***

Definitely a nice amount of room. But, before everyone pulls the trigger to jump on this bandwagon, i'll address exactly what i have dealt with thus far with this swap.. The "no brainer swap"... I'll make it simple with a list of what hasnt fit or worked out so well..

-Oil pan had to be changed to clear subframe
-Was told an R32 fuel rail will work, bought a brand new one, welded fittings, and it doesnt fit the 2.8 head. Trying to figure out another route
    - One motor mount fit, the other wasnt even close, had to fabricate our own mount from scratch
    - Valve cover didnt clear hood, was told to buy a toureg one which didnt clear either.. Hacked the oil filler neck off the brand new toureg valve cover, still 1.5" to close the hood.. Not sure where we're going from here with this yet.
    - 034efi intake manifold flange does not fit a 2.8l head, it hits the alternator bracket.. Working on getting them to make the right one 3rd time around.
    - Hood latch is no longer usable, hoop pins a must
    - Radiator fans cant fit between motor and rad, need to find very thin fans to fit between intercooler and AC condenser.. Now impossible to fit a nice size FMIC.. Have to buy 3 thin electric fans..
    - Must hack rad support inside to clear pulleys, and on top to clear belt tensioner and head
    - 24v VR6 coil packs will hit hood with clips on, need to get custom wires and run external coil pack.
    - Must make custom AC lines
    - only siemans thin body style injectors fit 24v head
    - bumper grills and such wont fit because everything is pushed forward now

That's all i can think of right now off the top of my head, but im gambling on more problems popping up. For those considering this, might want to make sure you have deep pockets and the car at a fully capable fabrication shop for all the cutting and welding. Big props to my friend Chris at C&M Performance for all the help, without someone like him on hand this would have been impossible.

Chris runs no AC on that car, and his car has a 12v vr6 in it. That right there eliminates the hood issues, the coils clearing, the fan problems, fmic fitment, etc...

We should then ask 034 to engineer a custom set of engine mounts to run the AC on the 12v engine!
That seems to be the simplier route out there....

Big props to my friend Chris at C&M Performance for all the help, without someone like him on hand this would have been impossible.
good work justin. I was gonna cry when you sold your GT setup but it's good to know you're still in "the game." haha

Looks nice, but doesnt fit with the ac condenser and 2 electrical fans on the condenser. Im pretty sure the vibrant stuff is just ebay crap too, but im not sure. Love the way it looks though. Using a precision intercooler in the last pic with a garrett core, definitely a more quality piece.

Hey NYCVR6 could you measure the space you have between the water rad and the engine pulleys, please?
I'd like to know if there's the space to install high flow electric fans in there.

    Cheers,

So where is the info on the B6 swap because I'm seriously thinking about doing this swap because my motor is getting old (140K) and I don't want another 4 banger. I have all the supporting mods and would love to have a VR in my car.

Biggest fan you can fit in there is a 9 inch fan up to 2.5" inch thick fan. Which wont cover one half of the rad on the inside . That isnt even close to enough fan. I will be running 2 9" and one 16". You need to find 2" thick fans too, it's a nightmare.

I am way more in depth into this swap than Issam was. The mount bracket you see in the picture fits, the other side isnt even close. Issam has a toureg block in his car so it is tabbed different than any other VR motor. You WILL have crazy problems with this swap i guarantee. I have only gotten this far because im working on the car in my friends shop, and he is there to help me fab parts as we go. You may get the motor to sit in the bay, if you can make the one mount, but it doesnt clear the hood, rad support must be hacked, hood latch doesnt fit, etc.. Listen to what im saying, im sharing this info before you guys get in too deep in a swap you probably cant pull off. I hope you have deep pockets, or good friends like me.
