OEM Center Caps with Paint Chipped & Yellow: Quick Fix?

I have the standard split spoke 17" five star style with big round caps. Although I am most certainly getting new wheels soon, after a few runs through the car wash (that I will not give any more business) a few of my original A4 wheel centercaps have lost their clear coat and some have lost the silver paint revealing a puke yellow plastic. It looks like sh**. I believe some asshat sprayed a solvent wheel cleaner on and screwed the finish.

What can I do short of buying new caps? Should I buy some silver spray paint and have at it? Even the el cheapo Hong Kong Ebay caps for this particular style are $40+ after shipping.

Get some Wurst Silver wheel paint, it's an exact match for most silver painted German wheels. Then just sand off the old paint with like 80, 120, 300, 600, and then spray numerous very light coats (you need to use light coats or the silver will look almost vieny). Then after it fully drys throw a few coats of rattle can clear on top and they'll look brand new.

I have this same problem too! I was also wondering what could be done to paint/replace the caps.

If your car is still under warranty, most dealers will take care of this with no problems. That is what many on the board have reported and has been my experience as well.

go to your dealer they are covered under warranty free of charge, the reason the caps are yellowing is because acid has been used to clean your rims and it eats through the plastic paint.

damn, i dunno if the Candian Extended Warranty will cover that. They didn't cover the condensation inside my taillights so im gonna assume they wont cover this.

Update: Jim Ellis Audi of Atlanta took care of me and replaced. Thanks for the post. I spent hours painting and re-painting, sanding, frustration, not matching the color, etc. Called the dealer and they said no problem. Oh, so much happier now.

For some reason I never thought it would be a warranty issue. Stupid and impatient me. Glad they didn't deny the warranty since I already re-painted!!!

I did not... just picked up the Pep Boys silver wheel paint and clear coat. I know, no patience on my part led to bad decisions. Wurst probably would have done the trick.

New caps now though!

Do you know what part of the warranty this would fall under? As I just talked to a 2nd dealership and they said they don't cover it. If I had something to point them to, it would be easier.
