P0089 is a generic code. Scan with vagcom to get the real codes.

Ok update, today i replaced HPFP and thrust sensor, NO start, but scanned again just to see if there's still only one code like before, and there's a new one P0321- Crank sensor/speed sensor, so i'am pretty sure that's why it doesn't start right now... hope that's the last thing xD

It is literally right on the hpfp. You just need to disconnect the electrical connection to it and use a open ended wrench to remove it

Like stated above the trust sensor is probably one of the easiest things to do on the car! Anyway I hope that fixes your problem! Glad most of your codes are gone OP

Update... the code is gone (po089) but there's still a failure, every time when i star the car and drive it for 5 mins aprox. low rev. 1500-2500 the car some times start failing and shut down, or just failing for about 10 segs. not letting me rev up, then the car works just fine. No check engine code... Not sure if it a gas or spark issue...
(new fuel filter, new cam follower and HPFP, new electrical fuel pump, and good spark plugs)

    What else i'am missing...

Did you check your air filter? Or intake in general? If it is getting enough fuel but not enough air it could be bogging down. Just an easy suggestion, always check the easy things first IMO.

    Any codes?

Im getting that code but no light. Just changed the timing belt and water pump. I go to put the car in reverse and it started jumping around. A bit of a loud clicking. Engine isnt shifting itself back and forth correctly. The timing belt is done right. So I dont know what is going on at all with my car. No check engine light. No CEL light. Just the code p0089 on the OBD II that says its pending.

    Help...

Everytime I get this code I simply just erase it. I've done all that has been said about this code and it still comes up. It's like chasing a damn ghost, plus whenever it comes on the car doesn't act any differently

P0089 is a herpes code which you can NEVER get rid of. It will come back again, it's just a matter of time. But you can suppress it longer to the point where it doesn't have to come back by making sure the surrounding parts/sensors (G410 thrust sensor, lpfp, hpfp, fuel rail, etc..) are cleaned and up to date. Yeah, I sound like some sick doctor/mechanic hybrid. Did you check/replace the G410 Thrust Sensor? That did it for me as of now.

This code can literally be caused by ANYTHING related to the fuel system. And there is absolutely no way to differentiate between the causes through symptoms. The only way to fix it is to start replacing EVERYTHING one by one starting with the cheapest part. Just hope it isn't the last thing you can possibly replace that fixes it. That sucks, ask how I know.

I almost forgot to mention that Audi has extended the warranty to 10/120 for parts associated with the P0089 code and the Thrust Sensor is one of them. Check with your dealer to see if you qualify for what needed to be replaced - free of charge.

Yep, that Sensor is the cheapest thing to start with, second being the fuel filter.

Mine is popping again. I have replaced,

    HPFP
    Cam Follower
    Cam Intake
    Thrust Sensor
    LPFP - twice
    Fuel filter - twice
Cleaned fuel system - 3 times

My car was working great until I brought it in to get the Cam Follower replaced and such. Ever sense then, my LPFP has been going out again. Delayed startups, low end bogging, CEL (P0089), and rough idle. Wtf? Why is the LPFP a constant failure?

Got this dreaded code today... the Bluetooth and torque app say P0089 and when I got home and ran the Uniconnect(the car is Unitronic Stage 1) software it says P0130B. The car has 77,890 miles and the engine was replaced 5,000 miles ago, I replaced the fuel filter 3,000 miles ago an the new engine came with a new (or re manufactured) HPFP. What should I try first? the N80 valve?

Sorry. Sell your car (preferably to the dealer as it's the quickest way to wash your hands from it) and buy another car. Life is just too short to deal with this issue. I spent four months and 20 hours of my life on it before giving up and moving on. Your time is valuable.

You wrote P130b but if it's the P310b code and that was a typo then it means the lpfp system pressure is out of the expected range somewhere between 3-6 bar). That is usually ties back to the lpfp itself or the lpfp control module. You can log the low fuel system pressure to see if it is too high or too low and then start replacing parts later.

TBH after months of trying to fix this code I just disabled it in maestro as my low pressure fuel rail was always between 4-6.5 bar and it hasn't caused me any problems.

Replace the G410 (Thrust Sensor). Cheap and easy fix and it worked out for me when I got the code back in Oct 2011. Knock on wood, but hasn't seen it since!

Worth a shot, but that didn't fix it for me. I think mine is crud in the tank related. After replacing the G410 sensor, I discovered that the gasket around the lpfp disintegrated and bits of it got sucked into the fuel tank and I haven't had a chance to clean it yet.

This was what caused mine, sediment in the fuel tank. Went through 3 lpfp to figure this out. Had three code for near 2 years i think.

    I'll join this club.

Two weeks ago car would not start on the first try, cranked but would not turn over, I gave it a few seconds and it started up, for the next week it would take a split second or two longer for it to turn over.

Last week I got the P0089, cleared it, 10 miles later after a cold start, same code, cleared it couple of more times and decided to bring it in to my local shop. All pointed to the Fuel Pressure Sensor, no biggie, it was replaced. As the mechanic goes for a test drive, CEL lit up for him, he digs further = LPFP is a goner (70K miles on the car). Replaced it, been riding about 3 days straight, starts quick again and knock on wood no CEL.

Easy peasy. The hardest part is getting the damn fuel lines to come off the top of the pump if you don't have the special pliers. Make sure your tank is as close to empty as possible before attempting it.

    Quattro? Easy.
    FWD? Even easier.

There are threads detailing the job.

I had the P0089 code pop back up a few times again under WOT while hard. So I the lpfp A4 fuel pump control unit with RS4 control unit and the P0089 code never popped back up again. Guess if your tuned or KO4 & it makes the stock A4 unit max out on the duty cycle and trigger the cel.

Yes, that exactly seems to be the case...Seems like the LPFP CM might actually be more to blame than the LP fuel sensor on the HPFP?

Returnless fuel systems are computer controlled and the fuel pump output and actual fuel rail pressure is determined by a fuel pressure sensor on the rail that uses the temperature of the fuel to determine the actual pressure. The Powertrain control module or Engine control module (PCM/ECM) has determined that the fuel pressure commanded is not within specifications and will set the DTC P0089.
As for me, I looked over this thread for YEARS but would happily walk on by because I never once got this error code...Welp, things have changed

    Code:
    p0089
    valve for fuel metering
    n290
    implausible signal
I've been pushing my car super hard for the past 2-3 months but it never triggered it until now. I did 2 or 3 REAL hard pulls a few days ago and just wanted to make sure no silent codes (cuz no MIL) came up...Well clearly they did. I know the N290 is actually the LP fuel sensor on the HPFP (thrust sensor?) and I got that replaced at my local dealership 2 years ago under the extended warranty. As well, like last week I replaced my cam follower and both it and my HPFP were in perfectly fine shape. Have replaced my fuel filter and LPFP control module within the last 15k miles as well

No side effects so I just cleared it and it better not come back or else I'll have to really investigate...Probably with freebies like checking to make sure I screwed the thrust sensor back on tightly enough, all the fuel lines going to the HPFP are in good shape, etc.....

Do any of you guys know how long does adaptation for block 103 take?
I left my car idle for 30mins and only the last column on the right hand side got aan adp.ok sign. The other just kept up and downing the value and wont adapt.
    Thanks

Where did you read that might solve our issue? What is the price and part number of that filter?

I'd buy 3 right away if it actually cleared your p0089 code
