Not mine, but just like it except for the front license plate.
A bad turbo brought me here to save money by wrenching for myself, but the great information here has cost me a lot of money because I keep finding good stuff.
2011 A4 B8 Quattro 6 Speed Prestige with Titanium Sport Package MMI Nav
Phantom Black on black leather sport seats, 3 spoke steering wheel, sport suspension, black window and grill trim, piano black interior trim and black headliner, B&O,
Engine code: CAEB, Transmission code: 0B2/LRY
Ordered from dealer in December 2010;
delivered February 2011 (absolutely worth the wait);
hit by a windstorm induced flying trampoline in March 2011;
replaced every body panel except rear passenger door (worth the wait again).
I have not found more perfect shoes for this car than the original 19" titanium wheels.
Bone stock and dealer serviced at every interval, moderate oil usage (1L/900mi), 90K miles on first set of brakes, 117K 'til timing chain replacement, 136,000 miles until K03 turbo waste gate failure. That is now. Even with Michigan winters the suspension is fine, and I'm not getting younger, so it's time to make a race car. Target: 380 AWHP, 420 ft/lb torque on 93 octane.
Since nothing major has failed on this car, and because it's a while-you're-in-there thing, I am starting with pre-emptively replacing known failure points using only genuine Audi parts (unless noted) and part numbers are listed:
~ battery - yep, got 11 years out of the first battery, so I bought another from the dealer (000915105DL)
~ vacuum pump gasket (06H103121J)
~ water pump - keep old for spare (06H121026BAKT) - the kit include thermostat, temp sensor and gasket)
~ diverter valve - Pierburg OEM (7.01830.13.0) - keep old for spare
~ engine oil separator / PCV (06H103464L) - keep old for spare
~ secondary oil separator - not a known failure point, just another excuse to never want to get rid of this car (06H103464L)
~ the three stamped steel things that make contact with the radiator support shield (belly pan) front to rear:
- lower radiator support brackets - replace (Audi p/n - 8K0805527A, 8K0805528A)
- restore/repaint oil pan (on car)
- x-brace - replace with ECS billet and new bolts (ES#4220371 - bolts are incl. in kit)
~ all fluids except A/C refrigerant and windshield washer fluid
- Engine oil - 4.3L Liqui-Moly 5W-40 Leichtlauf High Tech engine oil (2332) (note: oil additive brings total to 4.6L)
- Engine oil additive - 300mL Cera-tec (20002)
- Engine oil filter - Hengst (06J115403Q)
- M14 x 1.5MM Stainless Steel Engine Magnetic Oil Drain Plug (Votex DP001)
- Gear oil, manual trans - 4.8L genuine Audi gear oil (G055532A2)
- Gear oil, rear differential oil - 0.9L Audi 75W-90 (G052145S2)
- Gear oil additive - Liqui Moly MoS2 Anti Friction Additive (2019) - 2 tubes in trans, 1/2 tube in diff
- Brake fluid flush - 1L approximately of Audi DOT4 (B0007501LDSP)
- Cooling system flush, replace with 7L of Vaico G13 (G013A8J1G), diluted 50/50 with distilled water (note: factory coolant is G12)
- Power steering flush, 1L approx. Pentosin CHF202 (CHF202)
- Power steering additive - 1 tube RVS triboceramic treatment (P2RVS)
~ Belly pan screws/pins/clip nuts, headlight mounting screws, radiator core support screws, - pretty much all the rusted hardware up front - (N90775001, N90967502, N91057001, 8W0805121, 8K0863788, N90610602, 8K0805922A, N10442204, N10535502, N90342504, N90610602, N90683302, N90684705, N90684707, N90761102, N90808503, N90896301, N90967502, N91171401)
Then the fun stuff:
Engine oil dipstick (06J115611L)
CTS K04 X Hybrid turbo (CTS-TR-1070X) and turbo blanket (CTS-TB-B-03)
IE cat and down pipe (IEEXCG1)
Wagner tuning FMIC and silicone hoses (200001045KT)
CTS charge pipe (CTS-IT-267)
IE intake manifold and install kit (IEIMVC1-bk and IEIMVC10)
APR Upgraded Ignition Coils (MS100208-4KT)
Iridium Spark Plugs - One heat range colder plug, beneficial to performance turbo applications (BKR8EIXKT)
P3 V3 digital gauge (L3P3AB8X) - installed in left a/c vent
Genuine Audi high pressure fuel pump (06J127025L) - I bought a new pump to do the 034 piston upgrade
034 Motorsports HPFP upgrade (034-106-6052) - new piston design provides up to 50% more fuel
South Bend Clutch Stage 2 Endurance with dual mass flywheel (K70614F-HD-OCE)
ECS Oil catch can (ES#2960610) - between PCV and turbo, not between the PVC and intake
034 Motorsports rear diff carrier inserts (034-505-2019 & 034-505-2016)
CTS Turbo transmission mount insert (CTS-HW-0150)
All of the parts are here, the intercooler is installed and I'm in the middle of removing the K-03 turbo. I'm waiting for the super short triple square sockets (OTC 5942) to arrive so I can remove the banjo bolt that is tucked in right next to the frame rail. Then I'm estimating 5 days to tear it down, give the freshly accessible areas a good cleaning and bolt on the horsepower. (That 5 days will stretch to 15, of course.)
I have not decided on a tuner yet, but I'm leaning toward Steve's European Auto in Michigan.
