Shooot, for guys that already have ko4 setups, you could sell your ko4's put these suckers and maybe rods as well in, and be set.

HOw much exactly the log mani's will restrict things will be interesting to see...BUT you could put an aftermarket Ko4 manifold on...if those increase flow at all...and these would fit as well, since its still oriented in the same place...

    Hmmm.

I bet these are good for at least Rs6 type power. More if done right, if indeed they have the same characteristics of the gt28rs...

people have made the same power with eliminators that the "real" gt28rs makes on the 1.8t......so it should work the same for you guys

What makes them not "real" besides the custom turbine housing? How new are these turbos to the market? No one has tried them before?

they just have modified turbine housings so they mate up to our exhaust mani's..that and it looks like they welded on the proper direction for the inlets.

I have not heard of anyone having these on their 2.7 yet, but I bet if you call atp they have on some test car of theirs....

seems promising. ATP turbo to the best of my knowledge is a first rate place, that supplies alot of other people with their garret turbos as well..

2000 to 2003 Audi 2.7T twin turbo Eliminator GT28RS kit. 700HP capable in the pair. Complete hardware including custom turbine housing to bolt up to stock style exhaust manifold and stock style downpipe flanges. 3" downpipes highly recommended along with high flowing inlet pipes to ensure proper airflow in and out of these monster turbos.

Makes me think its two, but could be wrong.

Yes its definitely for both turbos.

well i dont know that much more than you. I really just stumbled across this, but~ I know ATP turbo is reputable, and that eliminator kit for the a4 has been out for a long time, this is just that thing reconfigured for our manifold/orientation. So it leads me to believe that these things would likely be a pretty reliable setup, Not to mention its essentially a garret gt28rs...

Im excited. I think Im going to go this route after some more research. these turbos cost about the same as what custom manfolds cost for the plain gt28rs's...

Could you not just run the turbos, then upgrade and slowly build up on that as a base?

Atp has been playing with these for years on the 2.7T. Pretty sure mika did there tuning and was horrible. A custom tune from epl or asp is a much better option.

to run gt28rs turbos on our car I wouldn't feel comfortable until Rods were replaced, piston rings, head studs, rod bearings, main shaft bearings, and re-deck the heads. But even so you are limited as opposed to doing a full motor overhaul. So all in all is really worth to only go half ass and run 28's or go full out motor rebuild I guess it's up to how much dinero you have.

Thats if you run higher psi on them, no? Could you not run them a little more conservatively for 450-500 and get the reliability of dual ball bearing turbos.

and a little bit of modern turbo technology, instead of the prehistoric ko4..

Re: New turbo OPTION! sort of

A built short block isn't all that expensive. Using IE rods you're looking at about 1600 in parts, assuming you get no discounts at all. I'm not sure how much labor it is to hot tank, hone deck, balance and build a short block... but I heard it's not too bad. The bigger issue with 28RS's is that you really want to rev your engine. So you really should build the heads. That will probably tack on another 1500-2000 in parts and labor... if not more.

That said, I really like the fact that we have another turbo option and they are priced very nicely :-)

Yes, you could run them on low boost conservatively, I think that what he was saying is that...You'd be foolish not to build the engine in order to take full advantage of those disco potatoes.

ya i would really only feel comfortable running it more conservatively. I know that there is a guy that has an autospeed rs6 turbo-d S4 and he got away with only doing rods. I don't know to what other extents he went on the build but I heard it wasn't much and got 500whp on it. How reliable is it not too sure.
