Check Engine Light Because Of Test Pipe?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I just installed a test pipe on my ride a few days ago and i just noticed the check engine light.

Could this be because of removing the Cat? The o2 sensors are causing the check engine light to go off.

If so i don't want to have to pay the dealer ship to plug there laptop up to it and remove it. Which wont be covered by warranty and i don't want them to get all sad because the TP is illegal.

To get rid of the check engine could i buy one of those "Vag Com Cables" of ebay and find a program that could get rid of it?

Could someone fill me in on the Vag Com thing and if it is worth the headache to get it etc etc and not just take it to the dealer.

    Thanks in advance,

    Pink

Yes the ECU thinks there's a problem with the emissions. A Vag-Com will clear it, but only temporarily. Get a chip (stage 2) and it will go away.

I thought even a stage 1 chip will remove that check engine light for the test pipe?

Re: Check Engine Light Because Of Test Pipe?

so what should i do? do i seriously need a stage 2 kit to get rid of a retarded light. i would have a better chance stabbing the light with a screw driver then affording a stage 2 kit right now

if you are stage one, go stage 2 and that should fix your problem.

    APR's stage one kit.

That sounds pretty helpful superman i think i will do that and save a few hundred bucks.

Do any of you guys have this vag com cable? I heard you can get rid of that annoying solid ring when the keys are in the ignition and the door is open!

Stage 2 shouldn't be that much if you already have stage 1. It's only $50 for Revo.

like i said, you could use this to bypass the CEL if you dont want to get a reflash yet. you put it on the secondary O2 sensor and it tricks it

apr has a test pipe(tp) code, that will rid you of that ugly light.... they also have a two foot test pipe code so you can brake boost.... at least on the b5, the car will have fuel cut if you don't have it.... a non fouler will work similar to the tp code, and some guys even run double.... i have a b5 so there is no multi stages, but anytime i change programming around it was just 1/2 hr labor fee from the shop

Get reflashed to our testpipe file for free! Still Stage 1, just eliminates the cel for the tp!
