My nightmare!!

so yesterday my rear wheel bearing completely went bad. i mean bad. wheel moves side to side, so today i dedcided to change it. last week i did drivers side, no major issues. but today i stripped the main 14mm axle bolt on the passenger side. i used pentrating fluid, hammer, heat, everything to make that sucker move but nothing. and then it stripped. what are my options? should i unbolt the cv axle and the whole spindle take it out and get the bolt drilled out at the machine shop? i cant come up with any other ideas. HELP!!! some recent pics too that make me happy because im very frustrated right now ghrr

This happened to me on the front, i didn't even get to try to turn it with a breaker bar, it was so rusty it just stripped right out. What I did was found a large short bolt and welded it inside the hole where the 14mm hex was supposed to fit. That got the bolt right out. If you don't have a welder though its going to be more of a challenge.

Other than that man im not realy sure how ud get the bolt out, its def going to be a bitch, those bolts are TIGHT.

damn that sucks. this is going to be a tough one. i guess u tried the flat head and hammer already, that was my only idea

this wont work, i had my full weight on 2.5ft breaker bar jumping it didnt move. ahh im so pissed and i dont have the triple square socket to take out the axle too. this suckks lol

Yep, same thing happened to mine, only came out with a bolt welded to it..

yes sirrrrrrrr. looks like im gonna have to do some welding on tuesday. i hate not having a car :(

try tapping in a huge torx bit. Don't know how big they get though. I know for the front, i did a car and it was stripped out and seized. so I tapped in a tranny drain torx bit and went to town with a breaker bar and it popped loose.

I had the same problem with mine. My friend and I used a large easy out. We drilled into straight into the bolt starting with a small drill bit and then slightly larger to fit the easy out into. Then once we got the easy out in, we used a 3/8 socket on the end of the easy out and it fit perfectly. We put a small to large extension on the 3/8 socket and used the breaker bar to get it out and it worked! The first 3/8 socket snapped in half, but it was craftsman so we got a new one for free. The second one we used was a deepsocket and was a bit stronger. You can try that. We used alot of cutting fluid on the end of the drill bits though cause it was a pain to drill into the bolt.

That pretty much sums it up... that dammed socket hit me in the head when I broke it though, that sucked!

Drilling it out was a PITA, but if you're patient and have a large enough easy out, it can be done. The shop may or may not rape you on price if you take it in.

I had the same thing happen to my for my rear wheel bearing. The 14mm was way too rusted over. Ended up using a snap on air hammer with the flat chisel attachment. Angled it to push to the left and it was loose within a few seconds.
I think this only works if you have a decent quality air hammer but either way good luck man.
