Exclamation What does the 213 relay do? CAR WONT START!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    My car wont start!

The only noise I get is from relay 213. It clicks ones pretty loud. Does this mean its bad? Would that relay cause my car not to start?

It wont turn over. I have power to everything... my solenoid is fine and so is my starter.... it just one day didnt start.

    Any Ideas?

A bad relay can cause starting failure. I don't know what relay "213" does specifically, but if its bad then replace it.

Can you hear if your fuel pump is priming?

no... there is nothing. No whining from the starter.. no clicking... nothing. The car does NOTHING when I turn it over... Relay 213 clicks. haha I dont have an owners manual... so im kind of stuck.

I had a quick look through the wiring section in the Bentley manual and I found 2 listings for relay 13, one was a starter lock relay and one was to do with the alarm and locks on tiptronic cars. I assume one is 13 on relay block 1 and one is on 2 however the maunal really doesn't say which is which. I think your question has already been answered though.

hmm so you think that the relay is a starter lock?
My Positive battery wire was loose and bouncing around on the terminal... so Im thinking it fried the relay.

I would say its very possible its the relay, relays do burn out.

I mean, lets look at it this way:
    Your car doesn't start
You can hear a relay making more noise than it should
There is a relay specifically for Starter Interlock

All you have to do is pull the crap out from bottom of the dash and expose your fuse block, do whatever it is that makes the fuse make noise and if its 213 you have your answer. And since you already have a relay number I'd say you've already done all this so you most definately have a good starting point now.
