Ive done a lot of research and I think Vogtlands fit me best. Not going to be tracking it.Daily driving with a better no "gap" look,I live in upstate Ny so i'm def going to be adjusting to stock height in the winter. So adj as easy as poss is crucial. Also im running 19x8.5F and 19x9.5R 38et.Want to put a small spacers all around 8mmF 10mmR.It shouldnt rub,but i dont know to do the suspension 1st or spacers, wheels then suspension. Also is it true that i will have to get it alligned every winter i raise and summer i lower? Does anyone have a similar setup that could help.Advice, pics everything helps

Ive had vogtland c/os on 19s but anyone can answer your questions..

Anytime you change ride height you change camber and you will need an alignment.

Do the suspension first before the wheels or it will look pretty rediculous.

Re: Want to pull the trigger on Vogtlands but...

perhaps the question is...Purchase either coilovers and adjust the height each winter along with paying for an alignment, or purchase, for exmaple, H&R springs and new struts, then have those swapped each winter. (and probably pay for alignment after doing so)

Re: Want to pull the trigger on Vogtlands but...

do you actually plan on raising them for the winter? people say they will all the time, but in reality many people never do it. every time you raise/lower the suspension you need to get an alignment. Also if you in a b6/b7 the rear adjustment is a major PIA.

I raise and lower mine in the winter. You need an alignment afterwards.

Re: Want to pull the trigger on Vogtlands but...

One of the reasons I just ordered Vogtlands is the ease of adjustment compared to most others.
Just wondering how much is the minimum drop for those who have them on already?

Re: Want to pull the trigger on Vogtlands but...

The Vogtlands are pretty aggressive and will ride pretty firm. Our streetsport setup is more comfortable for a daily and will give you all of the benefits with less of the compromise in ride quality for less $.

With the streetsport do u have to take the rear spring off to adjust rear rideheight? And how about the front, ive just heard it was a pain to adjust with the stasis.Whats your take,bc i didnt know vogtlands were that stiff,i def dont want to be jarred around ya know

Re: Want to pull the trigger on Vogtlands but...

Our Vogtland coilovers are a great daily driver coilover kit. My wife rides around in our B7A4 with it and loves it, no complaints at all about them being too firm.
They're super easy to adjust ride height, much easier than others out there.

It depends on application. Some cars are very easy as they don't preload the spring as much. All of our kits use UHMWPE bushings to make them as easy as possible. B6's are a PITA, but there's no real way around it. B7 collars can be spun with your hand.

None of the kits require disassembly for adjustment. On the back of the b6's the trick is to loosen the subframe bolts to give the springs some wiggle to make adjusting easier. On all others [off the top of my head] with the corner unloaded [jacked up] they are very easy to adjust.

Note that most people [IME] will adjust the suspension 1ce and never touch it again. It's not like you'll be raising / lowering at every fill-up. =)

These bolts are stretch bolts, and must be replaced everytime. I'm assuming you're referring to #7 in the picture.

yep. i think when our tech does them he just loosens the rear ones. 1 side at a time so the whole thing doesn't come loose.

Re: Want to pull the trigger on Vogtlands but...

How do the Vogtlands hold up in the winter?Do I need to grease up the threads so I can lower it back down in the summer? Any particulars w maintenance or otherwise.Im fairly new w Audi and coilovers but i get the basic idea.

I thought I was going to raise/lower mine with the seasons. Now that I have them on I realize it's just not worth it. Set them and forget it. I have no wheel gap and I've had them in Ohio through the winter and now I'm in Colorado. No problems.

As with just about any adjustable coilover kit, maintenance is essential to make sure they operate smoothly year round. Regular inspection and lubrication is vital to keep them operating smoothly for height adjustments.

Contrary to what some people say, coilovers are generally not a "set it and forget it" application. Do that, and sure enough they'll seize up on you either from corrosion or just road grime and crap.

Vogtlands are the way to go for your car keep them treated and you will be fine. We get bad winters hear in western pa and ran a set on a b6 and have had no problems with adjustments. The only thing diffrent with him is he got tired of adjusting all the time so we installed airbags. The vogtlands are nice and pure motor sports is a good company to deal with.

Re: Want to pull the trigger on Vogtlands but...

never seize on all the fasteners is a must, not on the threaded bodies. coat the threads with boesheild [http://www.boeshield.com/], wash them well and regularly in the winter to get the salt off adn keep them coated with boesheild - it's like super wd40, water displacer, rust preventative and metal coating

2nd that. I have been using Boeshield on my car and silicone spray on the wifes coilovers. Both work well. If you can't find boesheild easily the silicone spray works, but just doesn't last as long.

Jim - It's nice to see you guys on here more often. for STaSIS contributing more often.
