question. I see it's not optimal BUT I just bought some blue coolant by accident and had to top up my A4 as my wife was taking it to Portland (about a six hour drive from here) and I wanted to make sure she had enough coolant etc etc. i mixed about a half L with distilled H2O topped it up and away she went. Short term will this cause a problem? The whole system will need to be flushed etc shortly anyway but I'm concerned about her current drive. Thanx. Oh.... it was the pink stuff tha was in their previously ++ i believe.

    Uhhh, LIKEWISE!

In this year, 2022, with the investigations and research I have conducted, as well as my own personal experiences in the span of over 30 years cracking open various cooling systems from vehicles from the 60’s to current times, it is my belief that this data and the methodologies employed are fully valid and extremely educational, if not eye-opening still today.

This is a wonderful example of a truly passionate, creative achievement and generously shared documentation that would be of great benefit to be read and understood by ANY DIY automotive enthusiast or seasoned mechanic with decades of experience.

7 years after this reply and 13 years since the OP created this thread! Hoping my astonishment and appreciation for the amazing and useful bounty of information presented (except the images or links to them no longer function in this future timeline 😿) in an easy to read and interesting way.

With that said - thank YOU for carrying this out and diligently sharing your findings. It is immeasurably valuable and revered by people like me, which is safe to say speaks for the mass majority of members here and anywhere else where similar-minded folks share their same passion of owning, driving, and working on their cars, collaboratively.

    Cheers!
