    February '09 Featured AZ'er: mrponline's 2008 S5
    February 4, 2009 - By Audizine Staff

    User Name: mrponline
    Real Name: Peter Hovany
    Location: Sydney, Australia
    Year of Vehicle: 2008
    Model of Vehicle: S5
    Engine of Vehicle: V8 FSI
    Color of Vehicle: Phantom Black

This month we're going to fall back on an old cliche, that less really can be more. Well OK maybe not more, but enough. The Featured AZ'er for February 2009 is proof positive that you don't have to do a lot to an Audi to make it into a stunner. Sure it helps when the Audi you're starting out with is one of the best looking cars sitting on dealer showrooms right now. Stating that the S5 is the meanest and at the same time the most beautiful car that Audi has ever produced (aside from perhaps the R8) wouldn't be a hard argument to win. It doesn't take much to turn it from a model off the cover of a Maxim mag to one off the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. It's as easy as tightening up this, dropping that over there, and polishing it up at all four corners...or is it?

Yes, it may be easier said than done. Here at Audizine we're lucky enough to have a handful of tastefully modified new A5s and S5s around to gawk at. The specimen seen here is from "The Land Down Under", and it's a favorite of ours. You may have seen this 2008 Phantom Black S5, which belongs to Peter (who goes by the username mrponline), gracing this year's Official Audizine Wall Calendar (he's Mr. August, by the way) or perhaps you've simply seen some of his posts in the B8 A5/S5 Forum. Either way, we're going to bet that just like us, you're a big fan. With its deep window tint, and the perfectly low stance of the H&R Race springs and 20 inch by 10 inch Forged DPE S10 three-piece wheels, we had to give this car a closer look.

We see great things continuing to come from Peter and his S5, as well as the numerous other all-new Audis currently in the hands of enthusiasts (or those eagerly on the wait/order list) all across the globe. We here at Audizine are always on the lookout for both the best in late-model project cars and the ongoing builds of the old school variety. If it is unique, clean, classy, groundbreaking, and done well then it's got the potential to make it into the Featured AZ'er section. If you feel that this describes your car, then look for details in this month's upcoming Audizine Newsletter for how you can submit your own Audi for consideration. Peter's S5 is basically touching on all of the requirements we look for. It's about taking the heritage of European tuning and using your own personal taste to do just enough to make the vehicle stand out from the crowd. To make it just that much better than the day you drove it off the lot. More

Euro styling? He put wheels on the car and everything else is bone stock, I don't know where in the books that qualifies as such.

Agreed. While it is beautiful, there are A LOT of nicely modded A5's/S5's that could edge this car out. I think the wheels are "Quattrings" old wheels

It's "Featured AZ'er", not "Featured Audi with the most mods".

If any of you think that you and your Audi have what it takes to be featured, then keep an eye out for the upcoming Audizine Newsletter (usually posted around the 15th of each month). It will contain all of the requirements you'll need and details on how to apply.

Re: Mrponline is your Featured AZ'er for February 2009!

i think you get more honor when you are beeing asked as featured AZ er
then that you apply for it

And on the ''modding'' part:to each his own,but most audi's don't need much to be ''modded''
And i think this car is a verry good example
Ok it's a S5=classy and sporty look alreday stock

But a a5 with a OEM s5 package or s-line package and a nice pair of wheels is nicer then a A5 with a full rieger body kit for example

    just my thought's sorry

I certainly am not claiming it to be an un-attractive car, because it most definitely is. I just think that there are people in the A5/S5 community doing more innovative things with their platforms than just a simple wheel and tire setup. Although it is beautiful, it is basically a stock S5.

So again, what would you do? And what sort of "innovative" things can one do with an S5? Not much to do to such an amazing car. I have not seen a single S5 with anything very "innovative". Tint, wheels, suspension, exhaust, downpipes, debadge, maybe a body kit although IMO most of them make the car look ricey and thats about it.

Oh and BTW he has all of the above sans the body kit, so it's not merely just the wheels and tires.

And suspension and tint. That's pretty much it for the S5, which was part of the point we were trying to make in the article. It's not always about the quantity.

+1 Exactly, not much else can be done to this nearly perfect car.

Im still looking for something "innovative" that will add to the beauty of this car and not take away from it (like R8 blades, racing stripes and a giant rear wing)

Bottom line is that all the sick S5's out there like Tommys Sprint Blue and Quattrings Meteor Grey and this one all have the same mods - ecodes, suspension, wheels, tires, debadge, exhaust and tint.

The car looks fantastic regardless of how many mods or where they came from. The S5 doesn't need much, and he got it right.....

LOL what is "euro style"? The POINT IS the above S5 is certainly not. It is very attractive, but could be called "the U.S Style" of modding as well
