This month we're going to fall back on an old cliche, that less really can be more. Well OK maybe not more, but enough. The Featured AZ'er for February 2009 is proof positive that you don't have to do a lot to an Audi to make it into a stunner. Sure it helps when the Audi you're starting out with is one of the best looking cars sitting on dealer showrooms right now. Stating that the S5 is the meanest and at the same time the most beautiful car that Audi has ever produced (aside from perhaps the R8) wouldn't be a hard argument to win. It doesn't take much to turn it from a model off the cover of a Maxim mag to one off the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. It's as easy as tightening up this, dropping that over there, and polishing it up at all four corners...or is it?
Yes, it may be easier said than done. Here at Audizine we're lucky enough to have a handful of tastefully modified new A5s and S5s around to gawk at. The specimen seen here is from "The Land Down Under", and it's a favorite of ours. You may have seen this 2008 Phantom Black S5, which belongs to Peter (who goes by the username mrponline), gracing this year's Official Audizine Wall Calendar (he's Mr. August, by the way) or perhaps you've simply seen some of his posts in the B8 A5/S5 Forum. Either way, we're going to bet that just like us, you're a big fan. With its deep window tint, and the perfectly low stance of the H&R Race springs and 20 inch by 10 inch Forged DPE S10 three-piece wheels, we had to give this car a closer look.
We see great things continuing to come from Peter and his S5, as well as the numerous other all-new Audis currently in the hands of enthusiasts (or those eagerly on the wait/order list) all across the globe. We here at Audizine are always on the lookout for both the best in late-model project cars and the ongoing builds of the old school variety. If it is unique, clean, classy, groundbreaking, and done well then it's got the potential to make it into the Featured AZ'er section. If you feel that this describes your car, then look for details in this month's upcoming Audizine Newsletter for how you can submit your own Audi for consideration. Peter's S5 is basically touching on all of the requirements we look for. It's about taking the heritage of European tuning and using your own personal taste to do just enough to make the vehicle stand out from the crowd. To make it just that much better than the day you drove it off the lot. More
