im trying to decide if i should keep the stock piping and just put in electric cut outs for when i want it to be louder but leaving the option to have it stock for long drives. or should i just get a magnaflow muffler? what do you guys think... anyone with experience with electric cut outs?

yeah, they sound like crap unless your making a lot of power and have the need. get a muffler and be happy.

    This is what i did.

From the cats on i got straight 2.5inch pipe, to a custom Y, to a Magnaflow muffler.

It sounds really great, but for a daily driver, the drone is a bit too much. The stock res. is restrictive so i would loose that. This spring im going to but a Cherry Bomb and use it as a mid muff. I have herd my set up with a cherry and it does a great job of getting rid of the drone.

In my opinion, go with a full system from the cats on with 2.5inch to a Magnaflow, and then install a cherry yourself. Its a simple cut and its good to have an exhaust system that can be taken out in peices if needed.

Alot of people will say that 2.5inch is too big, but i have felt an a bit more on the top end with my set up. And 2.5inch is the ideal size for a PES supercharger if that will ever be an option for you.

And i agree with njm23, i have run my car with no exhaust while doing work on it. It really just sounds like an old race car since we are not making a whole lot of power on the stock 2.8L 30V.

Any vid/sound clip with the cherry bomb. My drone is unbearable and was contemplating a cherry. I know you said it wasnt yours but can you get a clip of the one you heard. It will be much appreciated!

i agree magnaflow and no res but u gotta run some sort of a mid muf to get ride of the drone......cherry bombs are good but they don't last. is there any other option??

can u take stuck out of the stock res so its not as restrictive?

+1 for Magnaflow and aftermarket res

I've got $60 muffler shop piping from the cats to a magnaflow and the drone is pretty nasty below 3k. Sounds beast when you open it up though, great tone.
