    Button on the driver's tweeter?

I had a B8 A4 2.0T for a loaner the last couple days while my B6 S4 is in the shop. For the most part, a very nice car. The keyless everything system is creepy and takes a lot of getting used to. When I want to shut the car off I'm always instinctively grabbing at the steering column... haha. The dynamic ride control is also pretty sweet... that would make putting coilovers on a much more difficult decision. The headlights are amazing and everyone comments on how cool the LED's look.

I was curious though, I see a button on the driver's tweeter that when I press it briefly illuminates some lights behind the black covers on the inside of each side view mirror. The red light on the button stays on until I turn it off. What is this for? Manual control of the mirror heaters or something?

I'd look in the manual, but it appears someone 'liberated' it from the loaner.

Also, is the Quattro system still Torsen? I was able to kick on the ASR on dry pavement by hammering the throttle on a gentle curve, which seemed odd, as that's hard to do in my 340hp S4, and pretty easy in the ~200hp 2.0T.

Asked the dealer when I took it back. It's the side assist system. Sounds pretty cool, wish I would have gotten to try it.

    Thanks for the help anyways

it is side assist. when cars are approaching you, it illuminates, if you hit the turn signals and try to make a turn when there's a car there, it will flash quite brightly. i LOVE this feature.

sounds like you have a prestige package... you should get a high quality cd that you enjoy and bump it up. b&o is awesomeness.

Honestly, I thought this generation slipped a bit in the interior department, and went away from the classic Audi interior and more towards a Japanese style interior. The giant plastic silver bezel around the MMI screen, and the air vents as well as the metal trim with the wierd pattern on it are things you wouldn't typically see in an Audi interior where they usually kept it clean and functional and didn't try to get flashy or use cheap plastic parts. That said the climate control is very cool and way more modern than the last offering.

Otherwise I guess I'd say the manual mode of the DSG was a little unresponsive (I found the A3 implimentation with paddle shifters a little snappier, this doesn't matter for you anyways ). The 2.0T was obviously a large performance downgrade from my S4, but everyone knows the potential that engine has, and it's not too much work at all to have S4 speed with way better fuel economy. The mirrors are a bit dumbo like on the B8, but they did offer great visibility, which IS what they are for.

Oh yeah, no more cubbie to store the manual under the steering wheel, and no storage drawers under the seats. I also like the old sunroof control better than the new one.

These points are definitely nitpicking though, and I will for sure be checking out the new S4 when it hits the show room, and overall I think the B8 is a great car and I was shocked at the amount of available features. I would have no problem driving one around every day.

i had a b7 as a loaner when i got my first oil change, and i did miss my b8! it felt very cramped and the controls(audio/climate) is a lot better in the b8.
