considering buying an A4... help please

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hi, I'm the market for a new car and I really like the B7 A4, but I dont know which one to get... I love the S Line but yet I like the quattro as well so I'm kinda stuck in between which one to get. I found a 07 S Line with 24k miles on it for around 20,000, is that a good deal? I was gonna call up the dealership and see if they can go lower than that. Also I prefer a manual but its not really a big deal to me. Please throw your input in to help me decide which one to get. I'm leaning more towards the S Line but I'm still undecided.

I have a tiptronic non sline quattro. Love it most of the time and there are times when I want a manual. But, more often than not, having the tiptronic has been very practical for my situation. Go with quattro/sline/manual but get a better deal. Take advantage of a crappy economy.

Yeah I was looking into those too... Ok heres what I found so far that Im considering... I found a gray 6 speed Quattro w/ 47k for 16, black 6 speed S Line with 18k for 18995 and a black 6 speed automatic S Line with 18K for 18500... I really like the 6 speed manual S Line but the auto S Line interior looks a little better. here are the links to them

If he's having hard time finding an s-line with quattro in manual, an a4 w/ ti is prob out of the question.

Try AutoTrader instead of a dealer. You'll get a better deal and more selection.

What is wrong with the CVT? All we know is where he lives -- we don't know his driving style, etc. Does everyone who likes Audi need a quattro?

I just got an 07 6spd with 17k on it (non sline) with an APR tune and it's certified until 100k or 2013.

I paid 23k out the door.

Re: considering buying an A4... help please

yeah I'm being patient... I'm just searching around till the right deal and car comes along. I'm probably going to keep this car till I'm done with school and all. Plus I'm still parting out my car that I have right now since the dealerships wont give me what i put into the car so I'm returning it back to stock form and trading it in or selling it privately.

Yeah I like that S Line quattro up for sale but its a little high in my price range... I think I can probably talk them down since its consider a "fixed up" car with after market parts. usually they retail for less since it doesnt have the factory parts on it. But we'll see. I have nothing but time in my search.

Heres another one... I just always loved the liquid blue metallic color

I'm with this guy. And why buy an audi without the quattro? There are far better 2wd cars out there for the price.....AWD is a different story!

Good idea to stay patient and keep looking. You should probably decide if you need quattro or not. It's nice to have, but you do pay for it over frontrak.

Also, you could consider widening your search area. Many people on this forum have traveled great distances to get the exact car/price they wanted.

Um for me...voluntarily buying an Audi without it's hallmark quattro system...would be like choosing the ugliest stripper in the club for a lifelong lap dance. Who would do that?...seriously

LMAO, amen to that. I can't knock people for just wanting the Audi styling w/o the staple Quattro, but at the same time..........personally, the thought never crossed my mind to go FWD.

Also............OP..........are you sure you want "phister" to be your Audizine name? I'd repeat the word a few times out loud before settling on it...that's just me though!

well my name is Phi (pronounced fee) and people at work call me Phister so i thought it was suiting.

Well I was skeeming autotrader and a dealership right by my house just got in a 07 A4 Quattro 6 spd... So I'm going to stop by it on my way home from work and see how it looks in person.

Actually I see more S-Lines on the road, they've become way too common especially with the 08 models. Non-S has a nice vintage/classy look.

I just went thru this process myself, and as the OP, I'm in Texas. Bottom line, do NOT settle for something you are not 100% happy with unless you don't plan to own it for longer than a year. You will regret it in the end . After about 6 wks of searching, I found what I wanted, and couldn't be happier.

For me, 6spMT and quattro were a must; yet S, tit, conven, bixenons and CPO were a nice bonus to the deal. Did pay a little more than what I had planned to, but it was worth it in the end. Found mine 100 mi away. Autotrader FTW .

Make sure you test drive the quattro before you consider a FWD; they're simply completely different cars. My 2 cents.

Is yours an S-line? Cause if not that sounds like a terrible rationalization!

Where i live I hardly see any s-lines unless it's an s4. And yes the 08 models all have s-line exterior, and that is probably because everyone liked it better. To me the non-s-line looks slow and unappealing

Non s-line seems classier and less likely to be caught speeding(or even suspected to have been speeding?). Of course I might just be biased since I didn't get an S-line.

Lol... dunno - I can understand a heavily modded car drawing attention to itself, but not sure if the highway patrol is really going to notice S-Line vrs non-S. Who knows, though, maybe you're right.

Maybe I'm just a little jealous I didn't end up with an S line. Oh well. I guess I will just be "forced" to start modding it. ;-)
