    Yup.

If you do donuts and lock the steering out you blow your steering system.

That is why when I was doing donuts the other week I kept my steering wheel a minimum of half a turn from full lock. It was fun. 2nd gear at 5krpm FTW!

I guess we need a reminder about this again:

IF YOU DO DONUTS WITH YOUR CAR DO NOT LOCK THE STEERING WHEEL OR IT WILL BE A VERY EXPENSIVE DONUT!

I had my pump replaced just now, mechanic said that there are still metal shavings in the hydraulic system. Warranty didn't cover required multiple flushes to clear them out. Should I be worried?

ive done them quite a few times so i wouldnt be suprised if it goes but i never lock it out and immediatly drive it easy to cool it down. plus i have a nice 4x8 upgraded tranny type cooler for my PS fluid. it keeps it much much cooler. that crap OEM cooler would go so hot i couldnt touch it, now i can do donuts and its still just warm

too bad jake didnt take a video of me monday doing those donuts!

it's the rising rate pressure from the pump that is the problem. not the heat.

you can do donuts all day at 3/4 lock and not blow your pump and downstream PS system.

but you hold the wheel at lock for more than 10 seconds at high rpms, you kiss your money goodbye

if it's donuts you want...go get a subaru! My car had 70k on it when i traded it in and it spent about 30k of that doing full lock donuts, and or drifting around traffic circles
