    Tiptronic to Manual swap

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but the seach didn't come up with my question.

I have a 99.5 A4Q 1.8t Tip that is now toast. I'm considering swapping in a manual tranny, but have been told that I need to swap the crankshaft as well.

Can anyone link me to a post that covers this or tell me what is involved?

    Thx

Yeah the crankshafts are different. You will have to open up the block to change it. Lot of work unless you plan on doing the engine while your there 2. If you have ever thought about going bt or bat, now would be the time. I think your ecu will still work for a manual trans too.

The shop I go to says that they have done several swaps and never heard of the crankshaft being a problem. That's why I asked. Now, there are different part numbers in the ETKA for auto and manual trannies, but does that mean they are incompatible? Just wondering. Thx.
