well i checked the oil today and shes low.. like bottom of the dipstick low .. may be a dumb question but im going to ask it any ways... does the engine have to be warm in order to get the proper reading off of the dipstick on this car or not?

    Re: 4.2 oil consumption?

Uhh check it after it is at operating temp, like after you get home from work. 4.2 isn't known for burning oil. Might want to do some research into hat mobile 0w40. You aren't the first person I have heard that is using that stuff that said its disappearing. Those same people have started using Castrol, and are not only keeping the oil but the engine is quieter.

First and foremost....Check it when its been on for a while and is at operating temp. It would be seem low, if you checked it and it hasn't been driven yet.

    Re: 4.2 oil consumption?

Yeah, I'm switching to castrol at my next oil change. I want to see if it quiets this loud ass motor down some. I currently use mobile with no problems though.

mobil 1/castrol and any other top tier otc products are not true group IV oils, they're hydrocracked group III's, so if you run the car even mildy hard it will burn off a little. I've only used the 0-40w oil once, and that was because I accidently got coolant into my energy 9000 from a t/b change and had no other choice but to drain it.
