Dissapointed in DDM, still confused..

looking for a 55w kit for my new pair of headlights, and im confident i wanna go with DDM, but exactly which kit??

i called them, and the guy was less than helpful.. they have 4 different kits listed, regular DDM, Apexcone, Raptor, and Ever Power Lighting...

when i asked why the price difference, he said ummm... BRAND?..

- no light output difference?

ummm.... i dont think so... oh they are 40% brigter than 35w kitts.....

- ...... (really, i can read) .....so i should just go with a regular 55w ddm?...

ummmm... yeah.. i suppose..

if anyone has any light to spill over these 4 brands of DDM kits - please do, i need to order..

all i got so far is that apexcone ballast is apparently 3/4 the side of a regular DDM......

I ordered 2 D1S bulbs from them, they came in a completely destroyed box (probably UPS's fault - bulbs were smashed and everything), but they have been a pain in the ass to work with, dont return emails, answer their phone once every 10x I call, and I still havent heard anything back about the replacement of my damaged bulbs (I let them know over 2 weeks ago). Needless to say I have been less than pleased with their customer service and dont plan to use or recommend them in the future.

Get the 55watt ddm kit with 6k bulbs. The things are bright as hell, at an intersection my headlights drown out those of cars in front of me. Also the 5k bulbs are too yellow, I'm upgrading to 6k.

Just get the slim DDM kit, the first one, the most expensive one and don't forget to upgrade to the 55w option.

yea they took a while to ship out my bulbs, and it turned out i ordered the wrong ones, i didnt even bother to try and return them for the same reason

I ordered the Apexcone units since everything (ballast and ignitor) is in 1 piece vs. 2 pieces for the slim ballast design for ease of install in my old BMW.

The 35W units are bright, 55W obviously brighter. I selected the 5000k 55W for mains and 3000k 35W for the foglights.

It took them a month before I got an email saying I didn't pay enough shipping so I tried calling 4 times today and only got a busy signal.

damn, i'm glad I read this thread as I was planning on ordering a 55w kit though them soon. Where else, hopefully with better customer service, can you get good quality 55w hid kits?

DDM is apexcone. Apexcone is their manufacturer or something, I never heard of the other 2. either way, I have the 55w 6000k on my stock halogen projectors and it looks good. I had no probs with shipping.

A lot of BMW guys run their Apexcone product and are very happy with them and for the price I can handle a bit of slow customer service.

I picked the 5000k units as I wanted the slightly tinted yellow light output.

damn i order mine sumtime around jan 13 or so i got the apexcone kits 8000k 35w. And it just came in yesterday. I installed it in about 30 minutes and it looks fantastic. Light output it very bright. no instructions included but plug and play with not codes thrown. I have pics to post up but im at work right now so cant do until after 530.

Just installed mine last night, i got 6000K for the low beams and 35W 6K kit for my fog lights. The 35W are bright enough for me heres what they look like (sorry for the cell phone pics)

I have the 55w 5k and there perfect. Pure white light, no yellow. Going to do the same with my fogs soon.

Oh, and shipping was fast for me. No complaints.

pics in couple weeks, still fixing my car, its all torn apart at the front now..

Well I finally got my 6000k D1S bulbs yesterday. Install was a breeze (except for the headlight screws on the passenger side/damn airbox was in the way), and I am very happy with the way they turned out. They seem to shed about the same amount of light as my old 4300k bulbs, but one of my old ones was starting to yellow so I switched both out and they look great and match perfectly. Nice and bright, a good light blue hue to them.

By the way Aleksey, I grew up in lived in Troy my whole life until about 3 years ago when I moved to Chicago. My family still lives there, on Long Lake and Coolidge, and I am back and forth all the time. Im actually planning a trip back on the 20th of this month. If you dont have your bulbs by then and want to take a look at mine for comparison purposes, let me know!
