    VMR integrated boost gauge

Anyone running the VMR air vent boost gauge? I'm looking into it myself and I was wondering what people thought of its functionality. Does the air vent still function properly? Does the gauge produce accurate numbers?

    Re: VMR integrated boost gauge

First I'd like to bust your balls a little and tell you that if you searched, you would have come up with answers to all of your questions. There was a thread a few months back from VMR that talked solely about this vent gauge.

Since, I'm not a total dickhead (or at least try not to be) I'll answer your questions. I run the VMR gauge and am very happy with it. The vent still works, however you cannot aim where the air is going, it just shoots straight out. Judging from what other people are running with Revo software and comparing it to what my boost gauge reads, I would say it produces accurate numbers. I'd definitely recommend the gauge for a nice OEM+ look.

Haha yea I'm getting used to the whole search thing, thanks for taking it easy on me. Shame the vent isn't aim-able after installation, but I guess that's what the other side is for. I'm looking for the most OEM look, so that would be the one for me.

    Re: VMR integrated boost gauge

Yeah, if it really bothers you then you could maybe install the vent gauge on the passenger side. I wouldn't recommend it though because it would make you have to take your eyes even further off the road to be able to see it. But, honestly not having the vent pointed at you isn't that bad. Usually it's just my hands that are cold when I'm driving so I'll just put my right hand infront of where the vent is pointing... Plus I usually have my heat and a/c on auto so most of the air is coming out of the top dashboard vents anyways. I'm thick skinned though, so I don't get cold real easy haha.

I'm thick skinned also. I wasn't talking about needing the heat, I was talking about needing the cold! Haha I get heated up like a mofo. And I definitely didn't want the vent on the passenger side or on the side by the driver door, the driver side center vent is perfect placement.

you could always do the steering column gauge pod if you're worried about losing the vent

    Re: VMR integrated boost gauge

If you want to read some more testimonials (mine), do a search and look under my user name and search for "boost gauge" I was one of the first testers for this boost gauge and have not had a problem since. Last time I checked with my vcds program, actual boost was pretty accurate to the VMR boost gauge.

If you are worried about the air vent, when you do the installation, you have modify the inside vent to have the air shooting to you, but for the most part the air shoots straight and somewhat in your direction. There is always the vent next to the gauge, but if you have passengers you will not be able to utilize this. Furthermore another option mentioned is a column boost gauge, but this route does not look oem at all.

    VMR gauge FTW!

It plugs in to your OBD port and takes real time readings from you ECU and communicates to your iPhone via Wifi. I'm not sure how you could come to that conclusion.

Yeah...but the real question is...WHO HAS THIS WORKING WITH THEIR VEHICLE NOW???
I've yet to read of anyone doing this...All I hear about is Dev's problems with Apple and updates and approvals. Plus the price of cord and app seem a bit
high. I guess I don't want to be the guinea pig, but I like the sound of
the Devtoaster product... Maybe they should set up a special to
get some people using the product so we can talk about it...then more customers and more and more buzz. This would be the slickest way to have a boost gauge because you can remove it whenever you wish....and maybe it will
    even log???

Well the full version of the REV software was released last week. Before then, all there was, was rev lite, which doesn't communicate with the Wifi device. I'll probably be getting one in the summer. As far as price goes. I think it's more then fair for the parameters it covers. From what I've read on their website, they've taken care of the bugs.

    So the answer is "NO".
And like me you're not ready to buy it now.
I was looking in to the lite feature as well...but I'm guessing you're
saying that you haven't heard of anyone yet having it in their vehicle???

not hating on the VMR vent gauge, but i think the podi steering column gauge pod looks OEM enough.

the plastic matches almost perfectly (plastic texture is spot on perfect, but the color is off ever so slightly, but it's hardly noticeable) the fit and finish is top notch, it even has the little dust cape that the stock steering column has. from what i've heard, installation is also a bit easier, since you only have to route wires from the steering wheel, not from the vents.

here's mine with an AEM digital boost gauge.

    Re: VMR integrated boost gauge

Maybe the only one but I had a bad experience with the VMR gauge (Mecanical Technology). It failed after 10 miles and before that, was making all kind of noise and the needle was vibrating like crazy, normal for a mecanical gauge.
I took anothe road and bought it on Ebay. I know that are Ebay haters around but in this case, it was a great choice:

    Electronic gauge
    Tilted toward the driver
    Great Quality
Great price ($120 if I remember well?)

Little detail: Because I want thinks perfect, I had to add a resistor on the line to dim a bit the brightness and perfectly match the OEM dashboard

I know someone on here has bought the OBD II WiFi device and was waiting for Rev to be released in the app store. The only thing holding me back is the $1700 i just spend on new wheels and tires.
