    Repair rubber floor mat?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hi all. I have the oem all weather floor mats and of course my front drivers side mat has a hole through it where my foot rests. Is there a decent way to fix this or should I just buy a new one? The oem ones only seem to last about a year before I have to replace them. bummer.

    Thanks!

i used some stuff called shoe goo. You can get it at walmart in the shoe section. the stuff worked great. i applied it to the back side of the mat. i put some on the front but it quickly rubbed off.

Damn - what kind of cheap rubber do they use for those? Or are you wearing ice climbing boots?

bringing this back from the dead. my wife has a hole in her A3 mat because she wears boots with heels and such. the mat lasted less than 10k miles.

any new ideas on how to repair this without spending $100 on a new set? Another piece of rubber riveted to the back?

my guess would be to bond, shoe goo or silicone in a small piece of aluminum or hard plastic at the wear point.

my rubber mats are not worn, are at least 2 1/2 years old, and i wear combat boots everyday and live in the great white north, so i dont quite understand how you guys have wear issues though, maybe quality went down in time or something...

Funny thing is that the VW version of the Monster mats are easily twice as thick and durable as Audi's mats and weight 3x more. I remember when I ordered mine and got the box I thought it was empty- the set of 4 VW mats for our Passat weighs like 23lbs. But...not interchangeable.
I actually have a set of "weathertech" front mats too (look there's the AD now!) and they're sort of low-profile but decent quality.

"Are you actually asking that question.. Just don't even post on my thread. why do I need to lie on an Audi forum about me fucking two bitches at once. (not literally) yes i did, you are late to the party.
and this thread has ran out of gas. I just wanted to tell people about my experience I had 2 nights ago and felt like sharing it with my fellow B6'ers. And I thank the people who didn't hate."

I reinforced that exact area of my Audi OEM monster mat by applying black rubber tape on both sides of the mat. With a flexible 2-part epoxy, I just glued the tape to the mat. It essentially ends up being a thick pad that you can rest your heel on.

I have the WeatherTech floor liners 4 peices at $180. shipped to the door. I don't think you could wear a hole in them unless those ice climbing boots are involved?

I have a mixable silicon rubber material at work, I am going to try and patch the hole with it.
