I notice on other A4's when you unlock the car the fog lights come on. With my car that doesn't happen.. Uh..ideas?

That is a feature called "coming home," I believe it is part of the convenience package. It might vary in name though, I am not familiar with the newer packages.

I am sure, you can rig something together and have the fogs turn on when you unlock your vehicle. I want to do this as well, but I have not found the time to do it.

    ahh...that's dumb..

Well please let me know if you find anything on how to do it..I'm interested.

I tried searching for a good half hour but there is nothing that I can find on riging it so they will come on when I unlock.

I doubt you will find many people attempting this mod, it is not really something mainstream or for many worth the hassle of doing. I have two things plan, which is either this foglight when on or a secret one.

If you purchased an aftermarket alarm, I am sure they could connect your foglights as an accessory to turn on when you unlock for a certain time.

hey, not a b7 , but b6.. my car was involved in an accident and i had that feature before... i unlock my car a mile away and the fogs go on like its waiting for me.. after the accident, that feature is gone, so i'm thinking it's just a vag-com thing u can tamper with, i haven't gone back to the shop to have it redone , no time.
    OEM is sexy.

There is a control module associated with this feature and others. I know for VW's you can use long coding to code the coming home feature, but you need to have the module for it. Would be great if it was coding!

Re: -Fog light- (just a quicky)

Some cars have the coming home light. Mine has it. It's the switch knob next to the DRL.

I guess maybe some cars have the coming home light function but may not have the switch?

Re: -Fog light- (just a quicky)

Will the knob only work if your headlights are on auto and the car detects the headlights should be on? Also, does it turn on your fogs or your headlights? I have the knob, but I've never messed with it because I thought it just delayed your headlights from turning off when leaving the car. I always manually turn on my headlights because I basically always use my fog lights too, so I never messed with it. However, if the knob turns on just the fogs I might have to start using it because that would look cool.

Re: -Fog light- (just a quicky)

as mentioned above, on b7's this feature is controlled with the knob beside the drl knob. If you turn this knob from the "0" position to the vertical dash or "1" position then your coming home feature is activated. The fogs & tails will not light up everytime you unlock your car, but only when the vehicles light sensor senses that it is in a low-light environment (night, parking garage...). This function will also work when you lock the car and are walking away, the lights are meant to illuminate your path as you approach or leave the vehicle. This is what the owner's manual indicates for 2007 B7's with the coming home feature which is generally associated with the convenience package.
