The do it yourself…or a tint shop?

I have truly appreciated all the feedback here in through PM’s, you have all been very helpful and I feel I am on the way to having a sweeter ride (although I am pretty freakin happy with my car stock..but the forum has opened my eyes and i am really excited about some modifications i am making).

I have scheduled my car to be dropped next Tuesday, and the gentlemen over at Streamline here in Utah were a huge help.

I have one other question or thought….I was looking at tinting my tail lights a little bit. I have done a search on the forum and found this..

    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...+light+tinting
went to the websites that were listed, and it seems easy enough....

Some like it and some don’t…but when I called the fella’s over at Streamline they said go to a tint shop (although I didn’t mention anything about the things I found here)…anyone have an opinion on this?

The do it yourself…or a tint shop?

if you are going to do lamin-x or headlight armor the install is easy and I'd do it myself, if you are getting film from a shop/store, I'd have them do it.

it also depends if you feel comfortable installing yourself. Taillight tint is not difficult, but it is a tedious task because once its on you can't really move it around after it has settled in. I have seen a few people install themselves and leave bubble marks or not installed properly.

I am uncertain of the costs entailed for tinting via film or spray, but you should contact any tint shop and receive a quote. It might not be worth your hassle to install, I would further suggest a tint place installing and giving you some type of guarantee for bubbling, peeling off, etc.. This might be the cherry on top, to have a shop install and guarantee their work.

If you are a DIYer, like myself, give it a try. Lamin-X can be sourced out online and find some affordable pricing.

    Good luck!

I would try to tackle it yourself to save a bit of coin. It's really not very difficult. Use Lamin-x so you can take it off when you get sick of it.

If it doesn't turn out well, then you can take it to the shop.

i have lamin-x tail film that i haven't installed yet, because i'm afraid of screwing it up. i called a couple of local tint shops, but they told me that they didn't do that type of work.
