Another update. This time the exhaust manifold's welds are completed...

The unit is test fitted to my car and we show that a hood clearance issue is a non issue.

First three different angles of the exhaust manifold with all welds done.

    Angle one :

    Angle two :

    Angle three :

    Test fitted in the car.

    Close up.

Turbo clearance with hood. You can tell the turbo sits below the top part of the valve cover.

From further away with a different angle.

    Still further away.

That is some sweet welding done on the manifold.

One question though... where is the wastegate merge?

It's the next step along with the DP.

Now that the actual manifold portion is done he can work on the WG and DP solution.

If the fabricator built that manifold piece by piece with the turbo in hand I don't see how that would ever happen

I understand the DP solution, but the WG should be a part of the manifold? If I were making a manifold I would figure out the WG route before I did the whole thing but I guess thats why I dont make manifolds

It will be part of the manifold. It will be installed in the collector. So I guess technically the manifold is not 100% finished yet.

We still need to install the four bungs for the EGT sensors and one for the A/F ratio sensor.

Not much to figure out, my guess is the WG will end up in the same spot as were it sits on the Full-race manifold, plus this is a race car so Mike will most likely just run an open dump since that helps reduce back pressure in the down pipe. Only difference on Mikes manifold vs the Full-race manifold is that it has a vband and the higher angle of the collector tubes.

I guess you did not understand or perhaps I used the wrong words...

One EGT bung in each exhaust manifold runner (~1" from the head).

One A/F sensor 18" down on the downpipe.

I really, really hope that the car's weight when finished will be around 2900 lbs.

We are going with a very conservative tune of 400 CHP on 93 octane and 470-480 CHP on MS109. Reliability, longevity and a smooth power band are the priority here.

However once we get it on the engine dyno maybe we will be able to get more out of it. Don't forget my previous set up was probably around 300 CHP maybe a bit more with race gas.

Now this set up would increase the cars' power by 100 HP on 93 octane to maybe 175 HP on race gas and the car was stinky fast on the track already.

On top of the launch control and several gas files I'm working on getting a "pass button/file" installed. By deperessing a button on the steering wheel the SM4 would go into a "passing mode" giving me extra HP for passing another car on the track. Now that could be cool.

You could do that just with a EBC giving it a set bump in boost for a period of time.

Some have what is called a "scramble" mode. This causes the EBC to add an amount of boost that you set it for and for a set amount of time you set it for. So you can either hit the button and it goes back to normal boost after a set time period or you just hold the button and release it when you want the boost to go back to normal.

Basically its just a ground input on the wire harness of the EBC that has this mode.

The AVC-R has a built in function called scramble boost that increases the boost for a set amount of time. You just need to install a switch and set the amount of boost you want and how long you want the increase.
