Weird Southbend Stage 2 Clutch Issue.

Got my clutch installed by Absolute Automotive(sponsor here) so I know install isnt an issue.

I was driving my wife and I to Red Lobster and all the gears in the car started to slip. I have been breaking in the clutch fine too(i havent been in boost), I freaked out, when in to eat dinner(well I couldnt eat) then I came out halfway through dinner and couldnt even shift any of the gears into place.

After dinner it ran fine but i felt some shudder type of skipping in the clutch pedal when releasing my foot. I also smelled the infamous burning smell

Waited an hour took it out again, ran fine again, no slippage, put it in 5th around 30mph floored it and got no slippage.

Downshifted to second and it held it fine

I dont understand why this is happening.

Waited another hour drove it normal and went back home and everything was okay but still got the burning smell.

Help please..theres only 1k on this clutch and its a month old

Try going back to absolute and get them to check it out you never know, that would be the first thing i did.

I think it's something related to heat. It seems that when you let the car cool down the issue doesn't persist.

Maybe a PP/FW issue? pretty odd..

Did you make sure SAC (self adjusting clutch mechanism) was set? This could cause your clutch to wear out really fast depending how bad it's off.

Its the A.W.E. stage II kit and comes with an rs4 pressure plate. Absolute resurfaced the flywheel as well..

I really hope not, now that you mentioned this.. im guessing it could be the suspect since its only been about 1100 miles since it was installed (800 highway)

any way this could be a slave cylinder issue?

No im afraid not. Slave will not make the clutch slip but would stop it from being able to shift. When i got my clutch from VAST it was a lil off what helped was that they marked it when they adjusted the SAC so i just readjusted it.

It can happen if they throw it around at UPS or who ever shipped it. I know this sucks man and what sucks the most is that you will need to pull the tranny again and buy a new clutch if this is the issue.
