New B6 s4 owner

Just wanted to say Hello and introduce myself.

My name is John and i just recently purchased a 04 S4 with around 40k on the clock.


I am comming from the wonderful world of Subaru's and big turbo's......but i can tell you that the S4 is hands down a
better made car with tons of looks and v8 power.

So from my reading it looks like 9.5 quarts.......and you guys run 5-40 in the motors for a oil change....

Is there any other type of secrets with this 4.2 other than it is the largest motor i have ever seen shoe-horned into a engine bay...

It looks like a air filter and spark plugs are about the only thing that you are going to be able to work on..........other than yanking the motor out....or am i missing something?

I switched over to this platform because i wanted a car that i could go start up and drive and not have to keep my eye on 5 gauges at all times, and listen to every sound that the engine was making.

I love it so far and cant wait to get involved in the Audi community.

Grab a beer and surf around, you will be overwhelmed with all of the information this board provides.

Although its a cramped engine bay its not so bad to work on. Oil changes are cake, the oil fit is right under the rear engine cover (very convenient). Your filter and plugs are right there. Once you get familiar with everything it will become easier.

There is something to be said for having a vehicle that still has a decent amount of power but you are able to listen to the radio and have a conversation with your passenger.

Keep in mind that i am comming from PPG straight cut gears and a freakin huge snail. It is so nice to be able to punch it at 2K and be able to pass someone........and not have to wait until 5k for it to hit. As the Subaru was fun, it was not a family car. I got rid of it because i have a baby on the way and the wife did not want all the noise in the baby's ears.

Welcome and congrats. For oil, use the good stuff. None of that Mobil1 of Syntec. Go with nicer Euro brands.

I'm a former WRX guy and have had the B6 S4 for just over 2 years now and still love it. Mine is an '04 with 45k on it and I couldn't be happier! I'm member 20000 to this board and still don't have pix up ...

Yeah tell me about it, I am jealous. I just got my 05 B6 with 51k on the clock, I had found a few with less miles but I wanted something still under factory warranty.

For oil, I recommend Lubro-Moly 5W-40

100% synthetic made in Germany :)

good choice man i came from a infiniti g35 coupe and the only thing i miss the exhaust note the rest is hands down audi is better...and mine is yellow which makes me happy hahahaha
