Figured I'd introduce myself, from WRX to A4

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Well guys I had a 07 WRX that was GT35r'ed. It was an awesome car. But at the moment I wanted something with AWD , a turbo ("modibility"), and something that is comfortable to drive around. LOL.

I plan eventually to get a STi, as the WRX always is always at risk of having tranny problems at higher power levels, the 6speed in the STi in VASTLY superior... But anyways i'm LOVING the A4, most of the same points of the WRX (higher torque than HP, AWD, Manual, and turbo four-banger )

I was previously on NASIOC, and figured I'd introduce myself to the Audi community as well!

    Here was the REX:

    and the Audi A4...

What do you guys think should be done first?

    -Mike

Nice, I'm an old school member of NASIOC and an Otter. Nice WRX, good luck with the Audi, you're going to love it. Not quite as fun as the Suby, but its much much nicer car overall.

I give you credit, not normally a fan of the modded WRX's but yours is very clean and looks good. I think its funny that members here want power and want to go to an STI/WRX, but your going the other way. I bet you will like the audi, start the modding!

Nice looking WRX. Hopefully the a4 will look as sick/tasteful when you're done with it. What part of VA are you in? There is a pretty good group in Northern Virginia and we have had some quality meets. You should check us out in the Regional Sub Forums.

Re: Figured I'd introduce myself, from WRX to A4

Thanks for all the posts guys! I plan to try to keep the Audi as clean looking as possible, definately going black on black again...I just cant get enough of that combo

Here's a Video of the exhaust, SUBY RUMBLE FTW , yes it was warmed up lol, I turned it off so that you could here the startup..

    http://media.putfile.com/Exhaust-wo-silencer

I am currently looking at 06 STis, as the 06 STi didn't have the stock ECU issues that the 07s did...

One thing I did love is the drop in my insurance from the Rex to the Audi, apparently the insurance companies don't think 19 year old's are meant to drive WRXs lol

But ya, I will use the search button as much as possible, its good to see other people from VA! Im in Northern Virginia, the Ashburn area

Couple more pics for those interested, I would like to keep the Audi to very much the same style if at all possible...

I was 22 when I got my A4. I originally had my heart set on getting an STI and I guess they didn't think 22 year olds should be driving them either because the insurance was going to be another grand every 6 months... crazy, but that made me look else where and ended up with the A4 and have been happy since. Definitely check out the mid-atlantic section and try to come to some meets!

Re: Figured I'd introduce myself, from WRX to A4

Welcome aboard, and congrats on the upgrade!

    As for starters, that depends:

Looks - Coils (Stasis, Koni, Vogtland), Springs/Shocks (Billstein, Koni), Wheels (OZ, HRE, VMR, BBS), Sway Bars (H&R, OEM S4/RS4), Rear Spoiler (DTM CF, Votex 3 piece)

Power - Chip (APR, Revo, Giac), Exhaust (Stasis, AWE), CAI (Skip), FMIC (AWE)

Those are just some suggestions and places to get started. Most bang for the buck is the chip and a drop.

    Welcome to your new obsession.

Thanks man...Actually it was my own silliness.

I wanted a STi to begin with, but ended up settling with a WRX. When you really get into Suby modding you see that a WRX, while an awesome car, is simply not an STi.... no matter what you do to it. Sure my rex was fast as an STi in a straightline, but nothing can come down to the performance and durability of the STi transmission. DCCD is absolutely awesome, and at the power level I was at in the Rex, everyday I drove it I was at a risk of bomb-shelling the tranny, simply because the 5 Speeds in the WRX are not adept to handling higher torque loads without a PPG tansmission build ($6k plus)....

Then you have the Brembo brakes, various suspension bits everywhere, the interior, HIDs (not a simple swap if done correctly), engine internals, hubs, etc... Its simply not worth buying a WRX and pumping money into it to get it to the level of its big brother, it will cost sooo much more....

So for the time being I love the A4, and hope to get a 06 STi in the not to distant future to compliment its slower, more comfortable turbo AWD brother :), till then let the Audi modding commence!

Thanks for the welcome guys, this seems to be a cool forum!

Evo VII and VIII over the sti in my book. (dont kill me, evos were my first love) but the insurance rate for the evo is even higher than the sti.

I love my Audi and my exhaust because nobody here advocates for techtonics exhaust. Its my favorite exhaust ever, Techtonics 2.5" dp-back w/borla mufflers sound amazing and proper. with a test pipe, sexiness.

I was thinking of getting an sti before I got my a4. I really had my heart set on an sti but when I test drove it the tranny was very notchy . When I test drove the a4 it was so easy and comfortable to drive and a lot more classier. So I got the a4 chipped it and I was good to go:)

It is notchy yes, but in a good way. An STi is a drivers car. its supposed to be more on the "nochy/raw" side, wheras an A4 is designed to basically go in gear with little to no effort. Both have thier upsides, with the A4 traffic, and menial driving is a pleasure even with stick. With the STi tho, the throw is pry half of what the A4 is, and when your driving more aggressive it's just quicker.

    Two very different cars...

Speaking of which how good are our 6-speeds in handling power?
