How long do your heated seats take to warm up? If I put mine on level 3, they take at least 5 minutes of driving to warm up.. My fiance's 2008 VW Jetta seats are burning by the time I hit the end of my street. I have leather seats and she has cloth. Is this normal for either car?

    Re: Heated Seats

I'm in Florida, so the scale of coldness isn't as drastic as some. However, my seats heated up the other morning at 28 degrees in about 1-2 minutes or so? If that long. I never go over 2 because it gets so hot and almost instantly.

    Re: Heated Seats

Me too, seems like it takes a few minutes, in fact the heat from the HVAC is usually starting to kick in by then. My friend's E46 BMW seat warmers were going within 60 seconds.

    Re: Heated Seats

Mine take about 2-3 minutes. Im not really sure how the material of the seats would help or hinder the time it takes to heats up, but who knows?

    Re: Heated Seats

in the 15-or-less-degree temps we've had here in WI, it takes until I have engine heat to feel any heat on my rear, and i've got the setting at 6. i know the seat heaters are electric, but i NEVER get ass heat until there's hot air coming out the vents...if i didn't know better, i'd swear the seat heaters were tied into the HVAC system.

    Re: Heated Seats

I think the norm is 2-3 minutes, if it is cold outside I put the heater on and the seats up too 6 and once my asshole burns, I put back down to 2 or 3. You dont really feel 2 much or could be that you grow accustomed with the seat warmer.

if i put mine on 6 i swear the more i drive the warmer they seem to get. Mine generally take awhile to heat up though. On level 6 though by the time im home from my 20 min drive from work, i feel like im on fire.

    Re: Heated Seats

So I guess I'm not the only one with slow seat warmers. I just think it's pretty sad that my car costs twice as much as the Jetta, and her seats warmers work better.

    Re: Heated Seats

It sucks that it takes a while... but I gotta say I love my ass (and back ) warmers... i have sat in so many cars and this car just burns like a furnace. Usually in the cars I've sat in, the bottom seat is the only thing that actually warms with only a LO and HIGH setting... I give our seat warmers a 4.5 out of 5 stars.

    Re: Heated Seats

Mine take about 2 minutes at setting-6 to feel warmth in 0-degree (F) degree weather and in about 5 minutes I'm cooking...assuming I'm rolling within one minute of engine start up. The fact that they do more than just warm the butt make the short wait worth it. I believe the amount of time one has to wait for warmth is directly related to whether the engine is idling or cruising; the extra output from the alternator surely helps.
