Owners who installed Bi-Xenons and got hi-beams to work

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I installed my Bi-Xenons from Jens a few weeks back, but after vagging, was never able to get the hi-beams to work. We checked the lights, all good, and verified the 21 and 22 ports on the ecu plug. My lights are awesome, just the hi-beams don't work. I was wondering if anyone has installed their xenons AND successfully got the hi-beams to work, if they can share the knowledge that I currently lack?

Where did you run the 2 thin grey wires (assuming the two wires for the hi-beams are all grey)?

I have a base B7, thanks for any help.

I followed this guide, and it works fine.

What happens when you switch on the high beams? does the city light come on instead?

    Kufatec?
I would imagine the harness should be nearly plug and play
The harness is designed to bridge the gap between a halogen car
and HID Bi xenon setup...mine are working great although
I do get flashed becasuse I think they're a bit brighter being that
they came off of a RS4 in the UK?????

Yes, Kufatec harness from Jens. I followed the same walkthrough linked above. Before I VAG-ed, the hi-beam switch did the inside halogen. After VAG-ing nothing happens when I flick the switch. We checked the lights, so I;m not sure what it could be.

    ^^^that is odd!
I guess at this point I'd be taking it into a trusted Audi tech
Luckily I had one help with the install so it wasn't a prob,
but if you know someone in a knowledgable place, now might be the time???

Re: Owners who installed Bi-Xenons and got hi-beams to work

ok i got the wires in but only the passenger side high beam works. The wires werent labled like it said on the write up so i just put one in the 21 slot and the other in the 22 slot. I tried taking the wires out but they got stuck like in the gap part of the plug. I wonder if i switch them around if they might work.

Anyone got any info on this?? Or how to take the wire out? The metal clip part gets stuck on the gap and wont want to budge out. I dont want to break anything.

did you make sure to connect the wires under the dash? that's what you need to do after Vagging it

Re: Owners who installed Bi-Xenons and got hi-beams to work

This is very strange, here are some of the potential problems: A) you did not correctly plug the wires into the pins. B) you plugged into the wrong plugs. D) Did not vag correctly for bi-xenon and lastly the flapper inside does not work.

    Possible solutions:

    - get those two wires and find a positive and negative wires, similar to the low beams near by and test if the flapper motor works. This can also be achieved by directly connecting to the battery.
-check vag com codes, ensure they are correct

If you connect the wires directly to the battery/power source and it works, than you can trouble shoot your plug not being connected properly or connected at the wrong pin location.

PS: There is no way, that I was able to find to NOT connect the high beams to that ECM? location. When I installed, I tried to find an alternative from running the wires inside the kick panel location. You cant use your oem wiring to make this work, I couldn't get it to work, but if some did please chime in!

Try this out and let me know.

Re: Owners who installed Bi-Xenons and got hi-beams to work

    Good stuff guys.

Yes, I ran the two grey wires to pins 21 and 22 on the correct side of the plug (17-32 marked). Jens troubleshooted (is that a word) the lights with me and there was a definite loud clunk sound on the hi-beam wire on the light end of the harness doing a battery test. I Vag-ed for the bi-xenons following the $20 VAG thread, can't recall off hand the exact code, but I have the no turn signal on currently.

So, what I know for sure:
-One light did clink with a battery test (we assumed the other light was fine as well)
-Pins are in 21 and 22 and I have switched them around just to be sure.
-I have vagged a few times/codes (halogen, bi-xenon, no turn signals, DRL, etc)to what I believe is the correct code

I mostly wanted to verify those who got it working used the same 21 and 22 slots, and that those are the same across base, S-Line, 06, 07, 2.0t-quattro, etc. I don't have DRL either in case that makes a difference. Otherwise, I'm not sure what else to try.

Hey, you got one working, that's half way there! The wires can be removed with a small screw driver, just push down on the flap and pull it out. I wish I knew why you got one light to work at all, and why you didn't get the other light to work at all.

Congrats. So you ran the two thin grey wires to 21 and 22 and any chance you can ask your roommate what code he VAG-ed?

I'm a at a loss. Maybe my wires aren't getting a good connection? I'm not sure what else to check.

I think you should just uninstall and send them to me so I can try them out on my car for you! (half kidding)

Anyway, I have scoured the forum for something that could help you out and can't find anything. Perhaps you have a bad harness...but I don't know, I am just guessing.

Re: Owners who installed Bi-Xenons and got hi-beams to work

I think you should try connecting them directly to the battery again, and see if you can verify that both at making the clunking sound.

I am thinking that either your kufatec harness have a bad wire/connection or the wires inside the housing is bad. If anyone know how to test those things, perhaps we can further narrow it down.

Re: Owners who installed Bi-Xenons and got hi-beams to work

I tested the hi-beam continuity with a battery on the left headlight and clearly, heard the clunk. I can try the same on the right side just to confirm that they both due work correctly. But I have verified on the left light, the hardness/light and hi-beam wire is operational.
