Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Im looking for a GT28rs Eliminator hardware kit. I haven't found a place that sells it. Also What is the preferred injector size for this turbo.

PS: if you are selling a slightly used elim turbo roughly the same size or smaller i.e. GTRS or GT2x hell even KO4 let me know.

he's already on a "tuning path" and (as far as i know) isn't looking to switch to revo

a hardware only kit would suit his needs much better

Re: Best place to get Elim kit??

Yeah I have seen all the internet shops have to offer as far as I know. Now Im just looking for a slightly used one to pop up. I dont have a ton of supporting mods and dont plan on being able to afford them very soon. So a smaller turbo run conservatively is where im leaning. Somewhere in the ballpark of 250chp

I do like that GT2x kit they have. will that run on 380cc's or would i need to bump up to 440??? I will ask them.

Re: Best place to get Elim kit??

got a brand new GTRS hardware kit here in the classifieds for $900. Needed to replace the waste gate actuator since it was dropped and has a small dent, replacing it probably wasn't even necessary but for $90 from ATP it didn't make seance not to since i got the turbo so cheap.

ended up being under $1000 for the whole kit brand new.

SPP had the lowest price on the kits last year ($1299.99 i think), but GTRS kits were back ordered from ATP and SPP had mentioned that the price woudl be going up since ATP was making them raise the price to be inline with all the other resellers.

I'd skip on the GT2x turbo as I believe they are not ball bearing turbo's and are oil cooled compared to coolant cooled. I'm trying to see if ATP can do a GT2554R in a eliminator housing. Couldn't find much when I STFA so we'll see. I'd say spend the money on a FMIC and supporting mods before you go BT. I think its better to have the supporting mods first prior to going BT.

Question is if the stock manifold woudl push enough to spin it up within a decent RPM range. I don't know all the different turbo models and how they compare to each other, is the GT2554R bigger then a GT2860R? or are you trying to get something more along the GT2x size but with ball bearings (GT series is BB) and water cooled? tuning will also not be as straight forward as a GTRS or 71R Elim. since it will be a custom turbo.

that is correct. I would a small, fast spooling ball bearing turbo. I figured it would need custom tuning, but I plan to go to 034 to have them do the tuning since i'll be going with Unitronics software soon. There is a GT28R in the classifieds that i might buy. How much would it be to rebuild that turbo?

i've heard mixed reviews about gpopshop, but they quoted me $600 or $650 for a GTRS rebuild (didn't need a rebuild but i have been though a few turbos so i wanted to know what i would cost to rebuild before i went the GTRS route just in case my bad luck strikes again).

Re: Best place to get Elim kit??

Thanks guys. Yeah I will get the FMIC soon but dont need or want (hard to believe) that much power right now. I haven't started my engine build yet so I am being conservative here. I have heard the same negative things about the GT2X so probably wont go that route. I am working on a 28rs, this seems to be the smallest Elim that has the best potential for the best price and will run better than a K04 with the mods I have. Only thing I need to know is how well it will run on a Unitronics stage II tune, or if Uni even offers a custom (conservative) tune for this set up. Guess Ima be on the phone with APEX for a while.

Re: Best place to get Elim kit??

not to shoot down your idea, trying new things is how we got to where we are with all of these mods available now, so you deff get props in my book for trying something new. but keep in mind that if you are doing this to save money it might not be the best route seeing that the GTRS/Revo or GTRS/UNI combos have been thoroughly tested and have had all the kinks worked out. blazing a new trail will help the followers are but the one blazing it is going to have to do all the work (trial and error) which when it comes to car mods gets pretty expensive.

I am assuming your talking about the GTRS when you mention the "28rs elim". if so your looking at stage 3 tuning. I ran my GTRS on a APR K04 tune. Anything above 3K (when the turbo started to spool) and the car would misfire and no go any higher, running a K0x this woudl have been manageable, but with the GTRS you can't accelerate well unless your in the 3k range so i had a real hard time pulling into traffic with it. As far as the damage it might cause..... i'm not sure, didn't run mine that way for very long.

EDIT* sorry, thought MNKYA4 was the OP. anyway, stick with a GTRS or 71R and you'll be all set without building the motor first. most of us GTRS peeps on here are running stock motors.
