How to tell if i have Quattro or FWD?

When I originally got my car about 8 months ago, I assumed it was FWD, because there was no Quattro badge on the rear, or on the trim inside. But now, looking at the carfax report that was given to me with the car, it says I have Quattro AWD. How can I tell for sure?? (I would like to be able to confirm by looking at something physically on the car, because who knows, the stealership could've given me the wrong VIN.) Thanks alot guys!! quattro is an AWD system... look under the rear of your car...if you see a rear diff and axles...you have quattro

Do your front tires spin in the rain if you launch the car or floor it?

That would seem like the easiest way that you could easily tell.

jack your car up in the front, put it in gear and floor it, if the car goes, its AWD.

.. ok ok really though, just look and see if you have a rear differential.. look under the back of your car, in the middle between the wheels, you will see a rear differential if it is AWD, it resembles a metal cantaloupe?

Are you serious lol Are there axles going to your rear wheels like in the front? Do you have a drive shaft going to the back of the car like you would see in a truck?

Audi doesnt have a transverse engine in the A4. They are all longitudinal fwd or awd.

You see how there is that big round thing in the middle with the axles going out to where the wheels bolt on. Do you have this or dont you have this? It is very easy to see if you do or not buy laying on ground and looking under back of car.

Dude. Get on the fucking ground and look under the back of your car. It isnt hard, you are making this way more difficult than it needs to be. Where the exhaust splits from one pipe to 2 (the Y) there will be a big metal thing in there if you are quattro (the rear differential). IF there is an empty space between the Y in the exhaust pipes then you dont have a rear differential and you are fwd.

Better yet, find the thread where the guy is converting his car from FWD to AWD. He has lots of pictures of both that should help. Or take a picture of the underside of the rear of the car in between the rear wheels and post it here and we'll tell you.

I apologize for some of the comments posted, it's clear that your experience with the workings of a car is a tad lesser than some of the car people here. Which is cool, and your question is valid.

You probably have a FWD car, as the interior would certainly have a quattro badge unless a previous owner for some reason swapped parts with a FWD car. To be certain the easiest way is to look under the rear of the car for any of these things, rear differential, rear drive axles or a drive shaft going to the rear differential.

She said, "oh I thought so since it says Quattro on my wood trim" Funny thing is the idiot from Autozone wanted to find out wether it was Quattro or not to find her a set of windshield wipers.

Look under, If you see balls it's quattro, If you see a pussy it's FWD

heres what you do, go to a stop light and stop but make sure u are in the turn lane, put it in gear and when it goes green start making the turn and floor it while turning, if it breaks loose, fwd, if you keep goin and nothin happens, awd FTW

here's another helpful idea... run the car out of gas (till just above E, but don't run out obviously), and fill it up... can you fill it up with around 15 gallons? or can you fill it up with 18gallons?

quattro has a 17 gal tank (2 is reserve)
fwd has a 20(or maybe 19) gal tank

Someone correct me on the specs of the fwd tank... but the theory holds.
