What to expect from the B8 S4 3.0T motor......

Since the lease on my B7 A4 2.0T quattro will end shortly, I wanted to find out what to do with the next car. The B8 S4 has always been on the top of my list ever since the news of the new 3.0L V6 Supercharged motor was released. But as most of you know, it's not going to be out till later this year. Therefore, I test drove the new A6 3.0T instead. The purpose was to get a feel of the new motor.

Knowing that the A6 is larger and heavier, and the hp and torque output on the 3.0T are less than the B8 S4, I wasn't expecting much, maybe the performance will be slightly better than the B8 A4 3.2 (since I test drove this car at Infineon). Well, I was wrong. It was way better than the 3.2L V6. The test drive was in rain condition. Initially, I had the car in "D". I felt that the acceleration was better than the 3.2L V6, but not by much. Then we got to a stop sign, and the salesman said "let's try the sport mode". So he shifted into "S" for me, and I waited until the road was clear. I was going to punch it the "pedal to the metal" style. But I only pushed the pedal about half way, and the car had already jumped off the line. "Holy shit!!!!! This thing has torque," I thought. I had a big grin on my face. The whole way back to the dealership, I was thinking "damn, if the A6 feels like this, the B8 S4 must be better."

Anyway, I just wanna share my experience on the test drive. I can't wait till the B8 S4 comes out. I really think that this will be my next car.

I just went to audi to do the same... but I forgot what i was up there for when i saw two R8"S nose to nose....after that i went home, i was satisfied. although I did go out and buy a lotto ticket.

New supercharged V6 is fast as shit, but I have NO idea how they get the mileage numbers they claim- I get on average 6-7 mpg LESS than the 3.2 liter....

I am totally with you here, I am pulling my hair out here waiting for the
2010 S4 to come out.
I am hearing October some time, after the paris autoshow.

So excited its a V6 supercharged and not a V8 due to gas consumption and $$$.

I am hearing also between $60,00 - $70,000 Canadian?

Well from all the speculation its suppsto start out cheaper than the B7 S4. Im hopping for mid 40's as a base.

I'll bet we'll be lucky if the base is in the high 40's. The B7 S4 was mid $48k right?
