Best Practice on Rear Lip Spoiler

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have been searching for a rear lip spoiler for my 03 1.8T. If I order direct from Audi, it will cost me about $400 (not painted). I also found one on ebay for around $100-also not painted Are these ligit-or just crap? I would rather not spend $400-if I can find one that is decent quality. Has anyone purchased one of these and installed it themselves? Is it pretty easy?

Re: Best Practice on Rear Lip Spoiler

There's been a few threads about people ripping on ebay spoilers, then others of them raving about them. I went OEM and it fits perfectly. Still waiting to paint it, haha, it emptied my wallet just to get it.

No, I don't think anyone has done it themselves, it's harder than the TB job. No one has purchased it off ebay either, everyone goes OEM. No, I'm just playing but there have been tons of threads on this already, but here's the link of the one I purchased off ebay for $60 bucks painted and shipped.

I got mine on ebay from Spoilerdepot in 2003. Great quality, super easy install (3m tape), only cost me like $80 plus another $50 for paint. I've never had any problem with it! I cant' imagine spending $400 for the same thing, that would be ridiculous!

Re: Best Practice on Rear Lip Spoiler

I sorta found a medium between ebay and the dealer. I went to wooddashexperts.com, and got a factory style spoiler painted and shipped for around 220 I think it was. It fits perfect, the color match is perfect, it applies with 3m tape already installed on the spoiler. And it has lasted me for over a year now. Still looks good.

Nope I meant to say 'best practice'. Meaning what's the best way to do this deal start to finish. I think i've taken one too many business classes.

they don't carry some color codes , weird.

I bought mine from Corse Autosports $50 bucks shipped , factory color matched. It's not as thick as the other tails but it gets the job done.

That is "factory style." Not the same thing as OEM.

Those Corse and Delsa spoilers are garbage. That's basically a piece of plastic trim that they probably buy in bulk sections of 10foot or more, cut to the approximate length, and then round the edges. I want nothing to do with a "spoiler" that can be found on thousands of other cars of every make and model. I prefer to stick with one that is made for my particular car. You should be able to pick up an ABT or S-Line replica spoiler for under $100. Keep looking and don't settle for the low quality stuff just because you feel the itch to mod.

This is true... I don't want some POS on my car falling off and making me look like a tool. It's tempting to buy that stuff bc it's so cheap and everything else for my car is so $$$. Good reality check. thx

It fits perfectly and you can't tell the difference. It follows the curve of the car to the T.

Re: Best Practice on Rear Lip Spoiler

Can I ask if the Votex spoiler can be mounted in such a way it leaves no gap on the truck lid? Is the Sline spoiler mounted in the same way that a small gap is left on both edges?

    Thanks

Does the Votex also bolts through the truck lid like the OEM S line spoiler?
