Thinking about moving to Florida

Alright so originaly im from chicago, but i moved up to Canada about 5 years ago, i love the summers here but i hate the winters here. I have family from Orlando but they just moved. Now im thinking about possibly living down in florida next year and just wondering where a possible good choice would be, i like bigger Cities or metro areas. Im so sick of this snow and cold, i really would love to be able to wear shorts and flip flops every day of the year.

Man I hear you. Im in ATL (no where near as bad as Canada) but Im tired of it. I want to move to South Florida Soooooo bad. I have friends in Orlando but never lived there myself.

Yea from what i hear orlando might not be the best choice, and yea im with you on south Florida. Plus the car scene up here is so lame.

I moved here from NYC like 5 years ago, this winter I have not run my A/C in my house since halloween, and I live in Broward. It does get hot in the summer, but only July and August are unbearable at times. Again everyone is different, so to each his own.

I moved from buffalo,ny to naples...can't go any further south on the gulfcoast then naples...I love it, I wash my car least once a week and enjoy wearing sandals year round. I haven't ran my air since august...and never have turned the heat on...but june july and august are really hot....


I would look in to tampa, st.pete area on this side and maybe ft.lauderdale/miami on the other side if you wanna stay far south and have a big city near by....i

I moved down here from NY 3 weeks ago, and I'm just lovin it. I'm living with my parents until I get on my feet down here, and I'm gonna be getting a place in Palm Beach shortly. Never been able to stand outside in January in shorts and just chill out without freezing my nuts off before, and it's really just glorious.

I'm not sure what everyone financial situation is right now, but I do know there are a lot of houses being auctioned in the next month or so, so if you are renting it it is something to consider. Make sure you check out the HOA's before hand!

I audit HOA's and Condo's for a living....Hyphy I don't know where you're thinking of living but I want to move by Clematis or City Place. I'm going to come to whatever meets we can all set up cause I need to meet some people too, and why not fellow enthusiasts? Hit me up.

I'm about to buy a condo in Davie right by the school. With 20% down (110k 2+2 condo) the payments are exactly the same as what I'm paying for in rent for a 1 bedroom.

he said metro areas so thats why i said tampa...it does have its nice areas and dumps but hey every big city does....Ft.myers is tiny and so is naples hence the shoutout to tampa...

if your tired of northern life and salted cars and high heat bills, its a great place to go but make sure you have some job security because our unemployment state wide is just a little lower then California which is 9%ish...Great deals on foreclosed homes...ft.myers is one of the worst in the country just google Lee county foreclosed homes and you will be shocked...

I'd say come on down if you can take the heat and get a good job...

East coast is where it's at in Florida. Orlando is ok, it's just small nothing like a big city at all and the car scene here is domestic cars that all run 10's or lower. South FL is your place man, I didn't even wear a wetsuit at all in the past year and a half. Rainbow flops are a must in FL. The only thing that sucks about FL is the Humidity! Good luck whatever you do man.

I just came back from visiting the Ft Lauderdale/Miramar area... shot down to Kendall also. It seems a lot of people are talking about how hard it is to find a job down there and the IT field has never been to good down there anyway. So like what has already been said, If you can get a job and are confident in keeping it.... S FL is the move.

Homeowners insurance is your friend down here. You know how up north kids in school get snow days, well we get hurricane days. It's not bad just need a generator and a lot of gas. We always run outta gas at all the gas stations because everyone has a panic attack and they suck the tanks dry.

We have not had a hurricane in like two plus years, business sucks! the last two years were supposed to be active, but they were not.
