    Hi all,
Im new on the forum so hi to everyone,
I bought a 01 b6 1.8t quattro last october and am really happy with the car, its pretty much bog standard but has been well looked after by its previous owner, the only problem i have with the car is the fuel gauge,it seems if ive below a half a tank and i park in my garden which is on a slant with the front of the car facing up,when i come out to the car the next day the tank reads empty and the miles till empty reads zero, this doesnt correct itself when i pull the car out onto level ground and only comes back up if i put more petrol in or after a day(provided i dont park back in my garden).
is the miles till empty read out in the dash connected to the sender unit in the tank?
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
I was going to take out the sender and try cleaning it??

what year is it? 2002's were prone to a problem with the sending unit. I never fixed mine, which reads a 3/4 for a long time then goes down to 1/2 and reads accurately from there . . . it's not a big deal in my case. Your case is different though, as you can't tell when it's empty.

The sender is $134 USD and the fuel pump (which you might as well replace while you're in there) is $238 USD.
