Anybody had motor or trans mount issues?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Ive been showing left and right upper motor mount solenoid short to plus reading for a while. Now the car is shaking like crazy and is getting hard to shift so im thinking the trans mount has collapsed as well. Any comments/ suggestions? Thanks.

they electronically counter the imbalances of the motor. Why rubber mounts wouldnt work is beyond me!

Re: Anybody had motor or trans mount issues?

I've had a motor mount replaced. The car was torn apart for a clutch job and the motor mount was oozing some odd fluid.. No codes though...

Re: Anybody had motor or trans mount issues?

As far as I know, there aren't any aftermarket rubber mounts available. The car shows a solenoid short circuit code when the fluid leaks out and the mount collapses. This happened on my b6, but I traded it in before I got a chance to install the new mount. I have a brand new oem mount for sale in the classifieds section if you're interested. I'm negotiable on the price, since it is of no use to me anymore.

Alldata shows 0.8 per side, but that may be a little low. I think you might have to drop the AC compressor on the passenger side.

Re: Anybody had motor or trans mount issues?

    The trans mount is rubber.

The motor mounts may be able to be replaced with a B5 aftermarket mount and you would have to install a resistor (once you ohm check the mount to see what the computer will look for) in the the wiring to get the code to go away. I have thought about looking into this. They look similar

I have a car in our shop right now, I will see what I can find on it. Probably won't be able to test fit any B5 mounts on this one. But I will try to take a closer look.

As for fixing your problems, have you tried unplugging the wires to see if the code is no longer short to plus??? It should switch to an open circuit code. Obviously clear the codes after unplugging them. If the code is still short to plus with the mounts unplugged and you clear the codes then the wiring is screwed up somewhere. If the code is different then the mount(s) are bad.

    Hope this info helps.
