Clunking after coilover install

I did not have this clunking before the coilovers.

If feels like something is "loose", but I checked and everything was tight. Its coming from both sides in the front. The driver side is louder...

Searched and came across some threads about bad upper control arms. I didn't have the clunking before the install.

Anyone have any ideas?

check your CV boots, but not sure if that would produce that kinda sound though.....

My CV's are fine.

Bad CV's "click" more than clunk.

Clunking occurs when going over bumps and dips.

Is "coilover noise" normal in a B5? I've heard that some do make noise.

Maybe its the control arms...I want to make sure so that I don't blindly replace parts.

I don't think I damaged them during the install. The upper control arms popped out of the knuckles with no issues.

di dyou make sure the nut on top of the strut is tight i had the same problem with mine and i took them off and tightened down on the nut some more and it sure enough went away....i know you said you checked everything but just throwing it out there

^^ding ding ding. I had the same problem after my install. Driver's side was louder. The nut on the top of the strut needs to be tightened ALL the way down. Anything short and you get clunks. . .not being an ass, but this is about the third thread about this same issue.

HAHA I did this same thing... You gotta pull both of them out and crank that shit down. DANGEROUS TO DRIVE ON
