Painted my spare tire graphite. Thoughts?

My spare had some scatches.


So I decided to give it a shot at graphite color and see what it would look like.

Step 1. Sand down.


Step 2. Primer, dry, sand some more.


Step 3. Charcoal color, 2 layers, then 2 layers of clear.

Close up of color.


Step 4. Mount on car and find out that the spare is flat (doh).


Any thoughts on the color? Too dark? Ok?

I like it. I am going to do my factory sport wheels in gunmetal.

Just a little bit lighter, Gunmetal like the guy said above. Try using that color as a benchmark.

Ok, i'll try to apply a light silver overcoat on the next wheel and post up pics.

Hmm.. so keep it graphite? I'm afraid of spraying the light silver over because it probably won't be consistent coverage.

when i get my new tires on and the snow gets off the ground i am doing that to my s4 wheels


tired of all the black s4 wheels, plus black on black cars..........


if i don't like it, i might repaint them again

On my winter wheels ( stockers) I pained them the same color and they are holding up pretty well, just clear them and the apint will last longer, but touch up is easy just sand and repaint, looks good on your car enjoy

I put 2 layers of clear. Then a light 1500 grit sanding on the rough spots.
Then rubbing compound for the final step.

I was gonna say I don't like it, too dark for my tastes, but since you already did it oh well lol!

I can't believe how small 17's look on there though....

Part of me wants to have a lighter gray on there.
Changing the color now is not that difficult. I have only done 2 rims and have a 3rd on primer now. I'm debating on whether to try a more of a dark silvery color.
