Vibration while accelerating 3.2

I have an 05.5 with the 3.2 V6 and it has 68k miles. Lately ive been noticing that i have a low frequency vibration coming from the powertrain that starts almost exactley at 3500 rpm. I need to give it around 1/2 throttle or more and be in manual mode in 3rd or 4th gear to get the vibration to occur. It happens all the time when accelerating uphill on a freeway onramp. The car is smooth in 1st and 2nd, and I have not had it upto speed enough to try 5th or 6th. It is also smooth in 3rd or 4th gear when accelerating lightly.

Does anyone have any idea what can be causing this? Im out of warranty, so would like to avoid the dealership if at all possible.

Have you had the tires balanced recently?

The only reason I mention this is that I went to an ice driving clinic today - great fun BTW, and when I was driving home, I noticed a similar issue.

Come to find out that after 8 hours of skid pad, closed circuit course, slalom, and braking exercises, my wheels had way too much ice wound around them that was only noticeable at certain RPMs and speeds...

Thats what Ive been hoping/thinking as well. I just wanted to get some other opinions. Ill probably take it in tomorrow and get the tires rotated and balanced.

Any other opinions?
