From me...$248 shipped. They come primered so you will have to paint it, duplicolor should be fine though.

Wow $250? How hard are they to remove? Can I pop one off with a screw driver?

    Re: OEM B6 "Shark fin"

No, not really. You will need to drop your headliner and unbolt it from the inside of the roof.

The antenna is so expensive because it is a combination unit that triples as a radio, satellite and gps antenna.

Full retail at the dealer is just over $300

Bummer, OEM antenna is $300 at the dealer. If you are just looking for the sharkfin look, buy this imitation BMW one for just under $30

i agree with this one. why look for an OEM fin if all you want is the shell? Greg gave you a perfect solution a couple of posts up. after you get it painted, they all look the same... except that has no purpose, but aesthetics

I got mine from a dealer online for $122 that has Phone and GPS. I only needed the GPS I had the body shop paint it for free since I had taken my car there before. I installed the shark fin my self its easy. The reason I got the shark fin because I installed Nav system RNS-E and the other antenna was very weak 3-4 SAT and with shark fin I get 8 which means better at pin pointing and 100% right movement.

    here are some pics..

I like the submarine style alot more. Let me get this straight, I can use this antenna for standard radio and not have to go through my rear glass?my radio signal crapped out because of the antenna booster. Would this bypass that?

The Shark Fin is only for GPS and Cell phone antenna. The new ones or likt eh Submarine has XM/GPS/Cell phone antenna. i dont think they make one for FM antenna.

While you might look for submarine antenna I didn't wanted to spend more money on something that I wouldn't use like the XM.. Plus its big...

it looks kinda cool, but not worth all the trouble of painting it and, if getting oem, drilling into your roof to mount it

Agree but if you know what your doing its worth it.. I wouldn't have done it but since I had spent $$ on my Nav didn't make sense to have my nav loose SAT single.

how much of a bitch is it to drop the headliner in order to do this? I LOVE the idea of finding one from a salvage yard...or if someone wants to sell a silver one that is completely functional. I just want the Sirius signal from it...don't give a lick about the GPS.

I've got the OEM shark fin on my car...so you're saying I can wire the GPS antenna from RNS-E (which I plan to get, soon) into it? how hard is that?

I just sold my silver one for 85 shipped. Its really easy to drop the headliner. You can even see an indication of where it will need to be drilled through from the underside.

Its really easy. Then sharkfin (submarine looking one) has 4 leads. One for navi, one for satellite, the other two im not completely sure. You will need to remove the panel on the headliner closes to the rear glass. From there, there is one clip that holds the backside of the headliner, remove that and that should be enough room to work with. You can do all the wiring along side the A B C pillars. Which means you need to remove those also.

    Re: OEM B6 "Shark fin"

how do you run the wire from the sharkfin to behind the center console to hook up to the rns-e?

and isn't there a spot for the satellite radio in the trunk, on the driver's side? how does that hook up? is it pre-wired?

i have an 05 with the submarine style fin and am looking to get both rns-e and satellite radio in the near future

In addition to that, you could always remove the B and C pialler and then the rear half of the headliner will drop down a good foot for you to work

is the cable that comes with the RNS-E for the GPS antenna long enough to stretch from the console to the shark fin?
