    Power window and sunroof issue

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I recently lost the ability to control my windows and sunroof. The switches seem to be inactive from every door and window. I checked all my fuses and they are fine. There is a seperate fuse for the sunroof and windows, so I was wondering if there was a single relay dedicated to driving these two components. I've checked in the doors as well to make sure everything is plugged in and the pins are fine on the plugs. TIA

99.5 sorry.. and the locks no longer work from the switch on the driver's door. The dome lights don't seem to have the same delay they used to either

i had the same problem with my sunroof. The thing would open by itself when i hit a hard bump. I just Fonzie it(bump it with my fist) and it close back. Don't understand what the hell was going on with that.

Yeah it's weird the illumination lights will go out on the light switches when they don't work. I took my doors off to re-check the connections. Unplugged all of them, took out the fuses, placed everything back together and they worked. The windows still won't work with the car in the ignition position only when it's on.

Is there a listing of which relays are for what for our vehicles like the fuse panel diagram?

Re: Power window and sunroof issue

So after speaking to the dealership I've kind of concluded that it's probably my convenience module(the one that is a part of the lock pump). When I try to VAG-COM and scan most electronic components it says no response from the controller, but I can run an auto scan and chose engine components for scanning. Any one had a similar experience with this module going up? Part number of what I believe is the issue 8l0 862 257 N

I would look at the central locking. It controls windows, locks, and light delay. You're having all of those problems. Do you have a VAG-COM to check for codes? Maybe its just a loose connector.

Re: Power window and sunroof issue

I do have VAG-COM but the controller gets no response from everything associated with the module. A while back I lost keyless operation, then the switched door locks went, then the interior lights no longer went off when I turned the ignition on, then the windows and sunroof went. I'm almost positive that it's the issue I just need someone to confirm it haha. I installed an aftermarket alarm/remote start and just used that fob for keyless so I never noticed the lock issue.

Re: Power window and sunroof issue

Mine went out a month ago. It's your central locking pump module located in the trunk, passenger side behind the trunk side wall carpeting. Has it been raining recently? Go pull it out, you'll see the module is probably buried under water like mine was and that's what killed it. The circuit board is fried.

Apparently its a common issue, because the sunroof's drain tube routes to that area, and it will flood it and destroy that module.
